I cannot recommend this company enough! I started out as a client and now I get to work here to help others find the hope and healing that I did. There is a misconception that those with special needs can't or don't need ways to do fitness but that simply isn't true. There is such a demand for adaptive fitness in the special needs community and very little supply, but this company saw that need and did something about it, and they have done it with such excellence. I was born with Spina Bifida and have been wheelchair bound my whole life. I was also diagnosed with ADHD as a child. I have always struggled to find ways to stay active that felt challenging enough and then in 2015 I started having other chronic health issues that zapped my strength and stamina. I found this program in 2021 through a quick google search and really thought it was too good to be true. However, I figured I had nothing to lose to at least try it, and I was not disappointed! Working with them quite literally changed my life. Pretty quickly after I started working with them, I saw a huge improvement in my mental health, because of the many years of health issues, I struggled with anxiety and depression but working with an adaptive personal trainer made a huge impact in that area. I have also now seen a giant difference in my strength and stamina to the point where I am now learning to use leg braces again after 31 years. That is something I would have never been able to do before working with Special Strong and Adaptive Fitness. I have gained so much independence as well, I now can go into my local gym and know what to do. I was always super lost any time I went inside a gym but now I have such confidence in what I am doing because I have been given the knowledge and tools through this program. One of the areas that needed the most attention was my core because I am not able to use my legs, my core strength is crucial to stability. All the exercises I ever found to work my core used legs. When I started working with an adaptive personal trainer, he found ways to work my core without the use of my legs and I gained so much strength to the point where I can now do a full sit up and I could not before. That is the other part of this company, the people. They truly care about their clients or as they like to call them their athletes. Even if they are not sure how to help with a certain issue, they do research and they find a way. It’s truly customized to each individual's needs. Their core values are Stewardship, Transparency, Ownership, No Judgement, and Generosity. I can personally attest that they truly do live by these values. They are some of the kindest, professional, encouraging, generous people I have ever met. It was such an honor and blessing to work with them. If you are on the fence about whether to work with them, just do it! It is more than worth it!

Along with my wife, I am privileged to be the Owner and Operator of Special Strong of Northeast Tarrant County, Texas.
We needed to know, that upon launching our business there would be the necessary professional leadership, support, and training to be successful. These elements and the strong culture at Special Strong did a good job of equipping us with the tools we needed to effectively operate our business. It was also a pleasure to see how much interaction there was and is between franchisees. Help, advice, and counsel are just a phone call or email away.
The business model is simple and makes it easy to manage, and that allows us to focus on the core activities that drive client acquisition, client progress, and long-term retention.
Part of our motivation for choosing Special Strong was our son, Jake, as well as the strong "tug" that God provided. On a personal level, my wife and I feel like we are impacting a very underserved community of people just like Jake. Our tailored adaptive fitness programs contribute to their health, boost their self-awareness and confidence, and allow them to live more abundant lives. We work in public gyms, not private ones. That allows us to bring our clients into our communities and work (and sweat) alongside others in our society. Witnessing the joy on their faces when they reach a milestone or overcome a fear is rewarding. Seeing other gym members offering high fives and celebrating their success is a thrill to witness. I wish we could bottle it.
As a business, it's clear that demand exceeds the current supply. There simply are not many companies that do what we do. That has led to a great deal of word-of-mouth referrals and a loyal client base. Although we didn't plan for it, our company's uniqueness has led to collaborations with healthcare professionals, therapists, and others who serve the special needs community. That has added to our networking, expanded our reach, and assisted in our brand building.
