Sweet little bookstore offering not only books for children but a young adult/grown up section in the back lower level. I bought an Agatha Christie mystery book for my son who was staying in the Loma Linda down the street. I believe the store owner helped me. She was so kind to gift wrap the book for me to give to my son. My kids are all over 18, but I would have loved shopping here for them when they were younger. The Frugal Frigate has so many books and gifts to choose from! I’ll still go back for gifts when I’m in town. Loved it.

I visited today looking for a new book or two for my 16m old and I found so many great ones that I could hardly decided. There was a great shelf with picks from the staff, which I found super helpful! I ended up getting a beautiful book from that shelf that my daughter loved.

The shop was so cute and eclectic! They had reading chairs for folks to sit and stay a while and even a cute loft area. They had such whimsical, kid-friendly decor, I can’t wait to take my little one there to let her explore the place!

They were running a great special with a grant from the city where you could pay $25 to purchase a $50 voucher towards books at the shop! I’m not sure how long this will last so grab it while you can! 6/29/22

We were a little late to Hanukkah story time at The Frugal Frigate Bookstore, due to a prior commitment, but when our daughter asked which book was read first, before she arrived, the owner excitedly offered to read it to her! We love this store! They’re so kind and they have a fabulous selection of books and gifts.

I bought two books there yesterday. I asked them if they had the books in a message, and they answered the message quickly.
They gave me a 20% teacher discount. Love the store and they do an awesome children's reading hour. My grandkids sat in on one of those too. I also bought, before yesterday's shopping experience, a new copy of The One and Only Family (it was pre-signed by the author). Yes, family and I will return to the store. Plus, there is a cool walkway to the right, as you exit, to more shopping. One one of the walls are some painted wings you can take a picture at as one of your little ones stands there like an Angel. Then, you walk to the colorful umbrellas and downtown Redlands. A nice day and a nice store can both happen!

I really wanted to like this store, I thought it was so cute and my babies loved it. One of my nieces (who's only 4) has autism and she ran away from us for a split second and as her mommy was heading towards her to grab her from the counter unfortunately one of the ladies upfront (the one with blonde hair) was a bit rude to her. She said "excuse me you can't come back here" and once she saw that the baby was persistent she said "you can't come back here" in the meanest tone. I think that if you're working in a kids store of any sort you have to have a bit more patience and grace with the customers walking through your doors, especially because not all kids are "bad" some may just have a condition that you're simply not aware of. I think we were there for a total of 15 mins and our babies were being well behaved but after we heard her raise her voice at one of our babies we simply put our books back and left.

I would definitely stop here if you’re passing through Redlands and have children who love a good story. What a great traditional nostalgic bookstore that houses so many unique and beautifully illustrations children’s books. It’s worth taking your children here as I have for the last 29 years. Now my daughter is picking up the tradition with her first child on the way!

First time coming in today and met with the owner of the store. She went above and beyond helping pick out the perfect gift for my daughter and helped me hide it from her while at checkout. She even gave me extra complimentary gift wrapping paper to take home to wrap after I wrote in the book and since my daughter was with me at the time. We will definitely be back for the awesome one of a kind experience.
