I’ve only purchased one tree so my experience is limited compared to other nurseries but customer service was great, packaging was secure and I was able to purchase a pink Taylor which is one of the harder cultivars to find. The fact that the tree came next day being so close is another perk. If you are looking for good sizes and healthy trees this is the place. I like on the website you can select the estimated size of the tree since 1g can be a wide range of sizes. This way it sets a proper expectation when buying online.

This was my first time buying from Mendocino Maples and the experience far exceeded my expectations.

1) Customer Service: I ordered a Rhode Island Red that I couldn't find anywhere locally. I ordered it on a Monday morning and the email confirmation told me that they ship on Mondays so I emailed the nursery to ask if it would go out the same day or not until the following week when I was going to be out of town.

Within minutes I received a text from Madia, the owner of Mendocino Maples, who was out of town herself. She then contacted her people back at the nursery and the tree was shipped that day, and it arrived the next day in great shape.

Finally, a few days after receiving the tree I texted Madia for some advise on how best to plant it and let it grow large enough to put it into the pot that I want it to be in long-term. Once again, she immediately responded and helped me come up with a plan.

THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED BY MADIA AND HER TEAM WENT FAR BEYOND ANY PURCHASE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD.

2) Tree Condition: The tree was well-packaged and didn't show any signs of stress when it arrived. I live about 180 miles south of Mendocino and it arrived one day after shipping, so that may have been a factor, but I believe the packaging would have allowed the tree to survive several days in shipping if that's what it had taken.

3) Tree Size: The tree was advertised to be between 24" and 36" tall and it came in as promised at 33".

Will I buy from Mendocino Maples again? Absolutely!

I have ordered several Maple Trees from Mendocino Maples. All trees packaged with care and delivered healthy. One of my trees did not seem to be doing to well in its transition and I was given great suggestions to help it recover properly. Every one of my Maples have sprouted this spring and are going strong. Great communication and always available when needed.

I just received my first order from Mendocino maples. The shipping was fast, the trees were packed well and both arrived healthy and happy. I have been collecting Japanese maples for 15+ years and these look as good if not better than all the trees I have purchased in person at local nurseries. Ordered a dwarf "Elizabeth" from Mendocino a couple weeks ago. It was shipped out the following Monday as stated in their Procedures, and arrived to my home across the country two days later. I carefully unpackaged it when I got home from work and found a nice, healthy looking baby maple tree inside. The following day I put it in it's starter container, and now hoping for good success with this beautiful new tree! I'm having some unfortunate luck with a ten year old Bloodgood that I'm currently trying to salvage (not from them - but poor planting / naivety on my behalf at the time) but I wanted to give it another go with a new tree as I love japanese maples! They have a ton of useful info and guidance on their site, and with that I'm confident for a better round two! Thanks Mendocino Maples!
