I had am the best experience there today that I’ve had in the last few years anywhere I’ve been.
I was visiting my Dr next door and I needed to get to another Dr’s appointment in La Jolla after, with 1 hour in between. So I decided to walk into Fillipis and ask if they would have a menu that I could order, eat and be gone within 35 minutes. The hostess, a nice and kind young lady immediately said this was no problem and suggested either a pasta or a sandwich.
I was seated and a server came immediately and said ‘I hear you’re in a hurry and I’m here to help’.
I was very happy to hear that!!
Seconds later I made my mind for the ribeye sandwich. I visit steakhouses often wherever I go and it’s been a while since I’ve had one.
The sandwich came in about 4-5 minutes after I ordered it!!….. I was so surprised that I even started inspecting the sandwich to see if I had received an old one or something but no, this was a fresh steal cooked as I ordered (medium rare).
The sandwich came with home made horse radish sauce (that I love) and the salad I picked was also very tasty.
All in all I received the best service i ever expected from a full service restaurant in years.
To my sever: I apologize that I forgot your name, but I’ll be back and find out on my next visit 🙂

I've heard good things about the prime rib here so I had to try it out. We ordered a regular cut and shared between two people. It was plenty for both of us. The meat was tender but not as flavorful as I expected. I liked veal parm as it's juicy, tender and cheesy. The spaghetti with meat sauce was a bit sour for my taste.

The restaurant is dark in general. I liked the decorations, got a nostalgic kind of feeling. The waitress was friendly. Overall experience was ok but I don't think it's a place I would visit on a regular basis.

Food here is really good. I had the 16oz prime rib. Was made and seasoned perfectly. Mushrooms and baked potato was also good. Wife had the lasagna and huge meatball. But i guess we got stuck with the worst server. Came back once to make sure we were ok. Forgot our side of garlic bread twice. But thats ok because it didn’t really have taste when we got it. Then took another 10 mins to get us our bill. But all in all i probably will return because food is good.

Not all Filippi’s pizza are the same. Apparently this location is the best as far as food and atmosphere. They have the formal dining room and lounge area with the bar if you want to chill. A lot of the locals come here to hang out.

Did you know that they have a secret menu? We ordered from the regular menu. We got wings, ravioli and lasagna.

Both the ravioli and lasagna had the same sauce. I wouldn’t order that combo again. The wings were dry rub, large, and juicy.

We didn’t find the food to be that great but the atmosphere was the place to be that evening. We will for sure be back to join the locals and order spicer wings.

Normally our favorite restaurant for prime rib....such a treat. I've bragged about it to our Texas friends for months when they visit. Finally got them here but was disappointed. The end cut had no seasoning. It was just OK. We ordered lasagna and got penne.
The worst part was that most of the meal was in darkness. The lights went on and off all meal; mainly off. I don't think this was the restaurants fault but never did anyone apologize or ask if we were ok. I think some minor compensation should have been offered.

Just left Fillipii's Scripps Ranch. Never used to have any issues in there however the last two times I have visited Alex has copped an attitude with me. I was in there twice in the last week, the first time I came in she wasn't even behind me bar but chose to comment on the fact that I wanted a custom margarita from the active bartender saying I always wanted the top shelf and wanted a happy hour price on it. Tonight from the beginning she was unpleasant again and when I saw that she wasn't making it the way I would like it and pointed it out she immediately got unpleasant again. I told her that rather than dumping it out my friend would probably drink it to which she responded that's fine but I'm either dumping it out or you're paying for it which I said was fine. By the time I was ready to cash out she had made several other negative comments in my direction and when I said something to my friend about her attitude she asked if I had a problem. I responded yesterday you have been very unpleasant to me the last couple of times I have been in here and closed out my bill. As I was leaving she was continuing to complain about me to the other patrons in the bar and asked me not to return. At that point I said that I would make sure and let ownership know about her unpleasantness and could comment in depth about her behavior. I really hope this review reaches someone that actually cares about customer service. I have never asked for a deal or preferential treatment there other than to ask if something was on Happy Hour. Really unfortunate experience and Alex needs to take a good, long, hard look at the way she treats people. If ownership would like to reach out to me I would be happy to elaborate further on my last couple of experiences with Alex. Good luck...

Came for Mother’s day dinner - food was quick, but pizza was average (got two larges with 3 apps for a party of 6 with ample leftovers). Wings though noted as spicy on the menu were dry rub and not as spicy as expected - they came out faster than the 15 minute warning though which was nice.

Found an aberrant olive on our mushroom and sausage pizza tho which is why one star less. Waitress, while providing excellent service, had a cough and sounded sick making members of my party concerned.

One other thing of note : Was nice of them to do a free cheesecake for mothers on Mother’s Day!

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Filippi's Pizza Grotto Scripps Ranch in San Diego, California, and I was absolutely blown away. I'm from Dubai, and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, but Filippi's is truly something special.

The first thing that struck me about Filippi's was the warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated in a classic Italian style, with brick walls, wood accents, and cozy booths. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they made me feel at home right away.

Of course, no review of Filippi's would be complete without mentioning the food. The pizza is absolutely incredible. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is flavorful and tangy, and the cheese is gooey and delicious. I ordered the pepperoni pizza, and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

In addition to the pizza, Filippi's also offers a wide variety of other Italian dishes, such as pasta, lasagna, and chicken parmesan. I also tried the spaghetti and meatballs, and it was equally delicious. The meatballs were tender and juicy, and the spaghetti was perfectly cooked.

Overall, I had an amazing experience at Filippi's Pizza Grotto Scripps Ranch. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal.

I also wish that Filippi's would open a branch in Dubai. I'm sure that it would be a huge success. The people of Dubai love Italian food, and they would appreciate the high quality and deliciousness of Filippi's dishes.
