Charming gold rush town that once pulled $20 million in gold out of the ground. Town named after the man who discovered gold here. Great wine tasting near by.

Think typical cute little city shops and what not. Lots of trinkets, decorations coffee shops. Not a lot of diversity what so ever. Decent food but can’t say I participated in the wine tasting—apparently a big draw. I’m from the Midwest so I always find it odd if I’m somewhere walking down the street and no one acknowledges each other but it’s whatever. Wouldn’t schedule a vacation here but wouldn’t avoid it either.

This town is quite sad if you visit Monday through Thursday. Very few things are open which is understandable due to lack of traffic in the off-season.
