We contacted HFH regarding a table and chairs to see if they wanted them. They said yes. Scheduled pickup for earliest delivery which was supposed to be 2-weeks away. Wife wanted the table and chairs out of her living room so I came to deliver for them.

Unfortunately we showed up with the donations at 9:45am. We spoke with a volunteer and they got the manager Benny. Benny stated that HFH will NOT take the items and I needed to come back at 11am.

I asked Benny for an exception to policy so that they can take the table and chairs now and I can go back to work. Benny said no. I tried explaining again how I was told by a HFH person that they wanted this table and chairs, and he said to come back. Again, I explained how I had to get to a job and asked if I can give it now and we don’t even need a donation slip. Benny said he was the manager on duty and he was not going to make the exception because “then I’d have to make the exception for everyone.” I politely tried explaining that “an exception to policy” is an exception and NOT standard practice. Benny again said, “No.”

HFH should make this a learning lesson and empower their management to make better decisions.

Why are you selling donated items for close to retail prices? If something goes on sale at a retail shop it may be a better deal than this donated stuff. I'm sure this is why I see the same over priced items here for months on end. Why is donating an item here a hassle? Also, why does the front counter person always look like they hate being there? I just feel like this place could be run better.

My new favorite hardware store. It's manned by volunteers, they sell unused home improvement wares, so no waste, and they usually have full shelves of quality products. Sure, it's not a flashy store, but I'll trade cheap for flash anyday. ?

Don’t waste your time trying to donate here. Almost every time I try to donate I get turned away, even with prior approval from manager/front desk person am still turned away. The ladies working the back are lazy and just don’t want to do their job. No more donations from my business or personally:

They did not accept any returns after 3 days of purchase. We did not look up the receipt carefully.
