This is a big supermarket in upper Darby area in Philadelphia City Pennsylvania, I live nearby and and comes here daily to bit stuff, wide range of collections of food items, meat, seafood, vegetables, bakery items, drinks, sort of deli meals, fresh and frozen fruits, confectionary items etc. Prices are also reasonable. I recommend this supermarket if you are visiting this area, A big car parking space is available in front of the supermarket.

Came in today to get some lunch meat and I have to say, they have some great people back there. Everybody in the deli department I hope is recognized for their friendliness and professionalism. Very polite and not mention FUNNY 😂 I had a blast just getting lunch meat. And the cheese was cut perfect didn’t crumble when I peeled it off.

Please educate the young dark skinned black American Muslim girl who worked last night (3/29/25) around 930pm at self checkout. You cant be unprofessional while wearing your religious garb. Thats a hypocrite and BOLD. Wont be shopping their again because as a guy it would be rude if I snatched her hijab off and threw her to the ground so Ill just spend my money elsewhere .

Management does not care about customers. Teens working there are very rude to adults. There is a complacency there and a no care attitude among some staff. There are others that are great, but the majority does not want to be there it seems and the environment shows. They never apologize when there is a price error. They will just look at you like it is your fault. There can be an item at three different places in the store with different prices. There is no value for the customer’s experience or time.

They make their own hours and do not care about rules, polices, or common courtesy. I got to the market at 10:48 and was told they were closed. I said I just need milk for my son, please, it says y'all are open until 11. Security officer beside the manager with locs said “What do you need from the store because we don’t have to help you” verbatim. I said oh okay, i repeated that I needed milk once more, they walked away and left me at the door. My 2 year old son left without his milk, literally screaming in the backseat. I will be calling corporate. I want them to pull the tapes, these people have zero experience in customer service and do not need the job obviously. The photo shows the timestamp at 10:54, I ended up having to pull off because they just walked away after locking the doors at I’m assuming 10:45.

Upper Darby Fresh Grocer has the worst employees. 95% are disgusting. I have witnessed cashiers turning out their lights when they should be working the deli staff engaging in conversations for 10 minutes or more before they call a customer and on 1/12/25 I used the self checkout and in the middle of my transaction was interrupted because all of the transactions say 15 items or less. The attendant came over and told me that I had more than 15 items and had to get in another line. There was only 2 other people checking out. See the film. I asked for a Mngr. & the Associate said there are no Mngrs. then she went to the back. A message was relayed back to me saying if I did not get in another line they would call security. I said call security. Security came and he was rude and I asked him was he going to forcefully throw me out. His response no. All the time that has passed I could have had my items scanned and out. There was one young lady who asked me Miss would you like me to check you out. I said yes. She opened her register and deescalated the situation. I hope she is not punished. I spend a lot of cash money at Wakefern stores.Independent owners or not there should not special treatment for anyone. Patience is a virtue. These employees are very happy with losing sales for their employer. How many times has this happened. I think the media needs to investigate these practices for these corps. It’s the same for parking too. I am 57 yrs old & customer service today is trash on all levels. Google me. Roben Dowling.

Updated review:
Today I asked the cashier to scan the box of 24 cans of soda in my shopping cart due to my back problem. However, she refused and insisted I lift the items onto the belt. To make matters worse, she also ordered another staff member, who was kindly bagging my items without my request, to stop. When I questioned the cashier about her rudeness, she continued to ignore me and spoke loudly. I requested to speak to the manager, and someone eventually came but asked me to calm down. Within a short time, I found myself surrounded by other employees who were openly laughing at my predicament. This experience left me feeling sick and utterly helpless. 🤮

Good price and fresh vegetables and other foods. Staff are friendly and helpful even though they are
very busy with customers. Their dairy and bakery area is always nicely decorated and properly restocked. Carbonated soft drinks are cheaper than Philly area because of no soda tax and they have promotions on going, which makes your shopping experience super cool 😎! Fresh vegetables, fruits are delicious too and not too expensive!

This shouldn't be allowed it's so unsanitary people put their groceries in these carts I complained to a worker they didn't seem to care why is a dog allowed in a cart
