South Bay Paints is my go to store now for picking a new color and getting consulting help. Been here couple of times and every time I'm left impressed by how helpful the associates are and what a keen eye they have for nuances of the colors and they always come up with great recommendations. This time I went to the store for wood stains. Nick was super helpful. He went above and beyond and not only educated me on the options but also offered to paint some swatches for free so I could take home and compare. We were at closing time and in spite of that Nick was very patient and did not hurry us. He prepped the wooden piece we took, stained multiple samples and even went and gave it the top coat so we get the actual feel. Superlative customer service. I live in south san jose. There are other stores closer to home, but South Bay Paints and their associates make my trip worth it, each and every time.

We came in to get a feel for paint, as we’re doing a renovation and needed to make some decisions. His was our first stop. Nicholas is a color specialist there who was SO great. We decided to purchase all of our paint from Benjamin Moore because of him. We went back three times in one day, with more questions each time, and he was amazing each time. He has great, thoughtful questions (how much shade does your house get? What color are the houses around yours? What direction does your house face?) and made suggestions based off them. Plus he answered every question we had with a ton of insight.
We are going back to consult with him on all of our interior paints, too. He gave us a list of things to come back with so he could help us pick the right colors for each. We really appreciate his thoughtfulness!!

If you want real paint, and real advice, don't go to the big home improvement stores.
I spent hours and hours sanding off the old paint on my front deck, and I wanted to be sure I got quality paint to replace it that will last.
I called and had a hard time choosing a color, so Andy had me drop by the store and showed me coupons through the main window. That's what I call making business happen! These guys are doing what it takes to keep the business going but also doing it safely. You can call in, purchase over the phone and they will drop it off. While I was there I saw an older lady, struggling to dial the number and get an order in. I saw Andy help her out and as soon as she got her call in, she had the paint outside within a few minutes. I never leave reviews, but seeing these guys put in the extra effort to make sales, and keep a business running was just really nice to see. That's on top of the quality paint and knowledge they have.

I just got off the phone with Andy at South Bay Paints in Campbell after he was referred to me as an expert on wood stains.

In a nutshell, Andy proved to be remarkably informed, helpful and honest. His efforts helped me solve a nagging issue of finding the best possible solution to achieve my goals of finding a durable product that looks great, is easy to apply and easy to maintain.

One reason I don't do reviews more often is because I HATE typing on my phone's "keyboard." So I generally give my star rating right away but am not always in the mood or able to type. (Also, as an upcoming authoress (pardon the shameless plug), I tend to write a LOT, & generally run out of room, & it's a bear to condense!)

However, I was told I'd received a reply to my review. It turned out to be the owner of SBP, thanking me for the rating, & I thought how kind it was just to thank me for my paltry "review." Realizing companies "exist" on ratings, I decided it wasn't fair of me just to do stars, decided to write something, & will endeavor to do better for ALL businesses when able.

So...I happen to remember shopping here, though it was 2 months ago. I was referred to SBP by another company. I was painting my bedroom & doing a faux finish, the 1st company didn't have more glaze (I'd wiped them out!), so they sent me to SBP. New to the area, I used Google Maps to find it, & it wasn't all that difficult.

From the moment I walked in, I liked the store. It had a very stylish interior & great color on the walls--very vibrant. As an interior decorator, I always notice & appreciate color! (People seem so afraid of color these days. It's nothing but neutrals, so bold color pops out and calls to me.)

Anyhow, I was greeted right away & asked if I needed help. I explained what I needed, and she (I believe her name was Debbie or Donna, but I can't remember exactly, & I apologize for that because she was very nice) quickly got what I needed. As she rang me up, she chatted to me about my project, which is the sort of special touch smaller (or specializing) businesses do (because I got paint from Lowe's at least twice & was NEVER asked about my projects). She told me it sounded interesting, that faux isn't done a whole lot today but that she liked the looks produced, & then I left.

Again, though it was a couple months ago, I remember the visit primarily because of her friendliness. She made me feel welcomed & as if my project was a high priority to her, which is nice. So, I apologize for forgetting her name, but I appreciate her A-plus service!

We had a small project which required three paints to be mixed for sampling. Any other place would have hated us, but these guys were super nice and very accommodating! All future business will go to these gents! Thank you!
