The building and decorations are very unique and charming, the innkeeper is delightful, and it's within walking distance to some great attractions and a 24 hour convenience store. Your sleep experience might depend on the other guests, though, because you can hear every step everyone takes, some muffled conversations, and any loud coughs. We got pretty lucky when the other guests were all asleep before midnight, but that might not always be the case.

I travel frequently for work and always looks for unique places to stay. The Bischoff Inn is now at the top of my list. The decor offers so much character and the quiet, calm atmosphere makes me never want to leave. I can’t wait to come back!

Lovely place to stay! Highly recommend! Rooms and common area are beautifully done. Parking is easy. Tamaqua features beatufiul architecture and good places to eat and have coffee. It's quite close to Hometown Farmers Market (a must on a Wednesday) and the touristy but absolutely charming Jim Thorpe.

2nd stay at the Bischoff Inn. This time I was solo on business. My meeting ran late and I just wanted to relax. I arrived around 9:30pm and it was like going home. Plenty of parking directly in front. Punched the code in the main door and was greated with the warm ambiance of fall decorations and an autumn fireplace scene playing on the TV with soft jazz. A few more steps and I was at the Conrad room. This was a perfectly cozy bedroom with a beautiful bathroom and large TV. The HVAC was easy to get to the perfect temp. Bed was super soft and comfortable. The only bummer was that, being on the ground level, street side, it would have been weird to leave the curtains open because anyone walking by would be as if they were standing in the room with you. There isn't much of a view anyway and I just wanted to sleep so it's no big deal. They are tall windows so perhaps split drapery with a top and a bottom may work. Regardless it was very much enjoyable and look forward to my next stay. Also, since the bill was being pay by my employer, as I was on business, I was cognizant of cost. There are not many hotels in this county and the only other location I considered based on location, proximity to amenities like restaurants, and of course cleanliness, was a national chain and actually $10 more expensive per night. So the Bischoff is very affordable even when on business trips.

Lovely visit to Tamaqua, PA. Bischoff Inn was excellent. While here we walked to the Odd Fellows cemetery, which is on a hill with nice views of Tamaqua. We also ate at the old railway station. The food was excellent!

The Bischoff Inn was a quaint, unexpected find that a friend recommended. I grew up in the area and traveled back for a funeral. We never had anything like this when I lived there. The room we had was beautifully decorated and I loved the exposed brick walls. The common area as you enter the inn is a comfortable place to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and visit with other guests. We appreciated the available snacks and drinks. There are several restaurants/cafes only a short drive or even within walking distance. We would have stayed a second night if we could have but only the one night was available.

We are so happy we found this place to stay, as we booked a little getaway very last minute. We stayed in The Moser room and it was just enough. Anthony, the innkeeper, was super nice, attentive, and was very responsive via text. When we walked through the main door, my husband said, “this is it? Wow”. We were very impressed by how relaxing the common room was and I liked the added touch of the door plaques for the room names so it’s easy to find your room. The Moser room itself was really clean and had everything we needed. The water pressure….amazing. The Wall AC unit….amazing. Kept the room nice and cold!! We checked out Stokers Brewery and Wabash Bar. Stokers had a great atmosphere and the beer was great. Walked over to Wabash which sits at the corner of the street…couple doors down from stokers. We grabbed some food and just hung out…another good place for some burgers and fries. You will be shocked by the price of everything. $18 for two burgers, fries and two beers! Both are about 11 minutes (walking) from the Inn but I did notice a parking lot across the street if you want to drive. Overall we loved our stay and we cannot wait to come back!! Floors are a little squeaky due to how old the property is so keep in mind when you walk through the hallway…especially at night… it’ll be loud. My apologies if we disturbed anyone around 10pm as we walked to our room.

Saw that our room had a sound machine! It was perfect!!!!!

Ps. The rehab of this place is stunning. They did a wonderful job!!

The Bischoff Inn is a beautiful place to relax and reflect. It’s a well located gem, in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Appalachian mountains. Don’t miss it!
