One of my favorite grocery and sundry shops in Alaska! Small but brimming with local, organic, bulk products that make a person feel like they are hurting the earth less and helping small businesses more by shopping there.

They offer a membership program for frequent customers and they also give a portion of profits to nonprofits.

You can bring your clean, labeless containers (call for specifics) to be reused (drop off in the front). Also remember they have an excellent bakery…with several gluten free and vegan selections as well…so leave room in your reusable bag for treats!

My son has become interested in reducing plastic waste and Blue Market was a great place for a field trip. The main staff person was super nice and gave him a tour to talk about all the ways that our family could reduce waste. I gave my phone to my son to take pictures for "ideas" so he took a lot. We walked away with several products, including scones, toothpaste tablets, fresh pasta and maple syrup. Our only complaint was that the ginger beer on tap wasn't strong enough, needed more bite.

we love this market! today we came for teas, soaps, shampoos, lotion etc. and we found so many extra sustainable goodies.
we love the variety of alaskan products, browsing and trying new things. we also get our cooking oils, spices, ak honey, and dry goods. they have coffee, pastries, fresh baked bread, meats, ice cream.

the refill process was a little confusing at first as a beginner but the staff is very friendly and helpful, you can bring your own jars to refill or they have jars for .50¢.
it’s a fun way to support alaskan small businesses and also reduce your single use plastics.

So happy this place exists! It’s my go-to place for all my bulk spices and they always have some delicious vegan baked goods. Nice veggie and dairy selection as well.

At first I was very excited about this market. Finally an alternative to natural pantry and an alternative to driving to the valley for duck eggs. Since 2 out of 3 people in our home have severe chicken egg allergies, it was incredible to finally have real eggs after almost 2 years. Then, I called today and there's a limit of 6 per person. I find it appalling to go back to a lab created product of vegan "eggs" just to be able to both bake and have an egg breakfast on the weekends as a family. Unfortunately, that was enough for me to stop giving my business.

We love this place so much! We go often and have a membership. Love being able to shop local and buy low waste products. Bonus points that my food is all stored in pretty containers that I'm able to fill up there.

This place just keeps getting better. They've really upped their stock, especially with locally produced foods, I can do a good portion of my shopping here plastic/waste-free! They focus on high quality products. It is more expensive than Costco, etc. but there are opportunities to save a little, like bringing your own egg carton and buying loose eggs, which saves you $0.60 on a dozen. I'd love to see ways to make it more affordable for lower income people. Maybe there already are.

I heard Blue Market won the prestigious Golden Carrot award so investigated today. It was a real education and the staff were wonderful. It's the kind of shop that makes Spenard a special place.
