We stopped in to Caribou Crossings while in Juneau last week. What a beautiful shop! It’s a local, family-owned store with unique artwork and souvenirs. Definitely a breath of fresh air for all the other shops that seemed to have the same mass produced merch.

One of the employees spent a long time with us, showing us pieces and sharing information on the artist, history, etc. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

We left with a beautiful whale and a few smaller souvenirs for our children.

The only downside is that they don’t have a website (understandably so), because I’d love to shop there again! ?

This is hands-down the shop with the most unique pieces!! Bought both daughters artisan made earrings. And an ornament for our tree that will hold a pic from our first Alaska trip. Make sure you meet their Bernadoodle Lucy! It's what lured my husband in.the owner of the shop (pretty sure) was very friendly & the young lady who showed me the earrings was great also! I'm disappointed that I didn't buy earrings for myself now. 2 hrs before we ship out- and I'm considering asking the husband if he wants to run over there real quickly!

Award for friendliest shopkeeper in all of Juneau—lady with long hair and glasses. So sweet! Thanks for helping us pick out a made-in-Alaska keepsake ornament. It’s a very nice shop with local artwork as well.

What a wonderful true Alaskan store, full of local goodies!! Real local culture and artist gifts and collectibles. They were about to close when we walked up, and the adorable girls (Ava and Nakaiya) said, no hurry, please, come in!! They explained about the different products offered and I found the perfect gifts (for myself ?) We travel to Alaska annually and looking forward to getting back there!

Great local shop in Juneau that we visited during our cruise time in this beautiful port! I will highly recommend anyone I know visiting Juneau to stop in and have a look around. Everyone was so nice and I got some unique keepsakes to bring home, including a fun 2024 ornament for my daughter.

Probably my favorite shop in downtown Juneau! It’s locally owned and the crafts and artwork are authentic and made by local artists. The lady that helped us was super nice and the souvenirs are amazing! Would absolutely recommend checking out if you’re visiting Juneau.

Caribou Crossing/ The Alaska Box may be a 5 star store.
My experience overall is 2.
My son sent us a gorgeous glass fish art piece.It was over $600 incl. shipping, and it arrived with possible damage. That means it looks like it has a crack, and my fingernail catctches along the line. It is not continuously smooth like the remaining 99% of the piece. I took pictures of the glass piece, and the packaging and sent them along to Caribou Cr. I received a reply that they would forward the email to the artist, for their advice. The artist replied that's how it's supposed to be. So, except for the place where my fingernail catches...I might agree. I have other fused pieces.
I asked a local glass studio to look at it for me (in MA), and they declined stating they would agree with artist.
My advice: if you fall in love with a glass piece, try to do it LOCALLY. Avoid shipping for obvious reasons. If you are in AK and are taken and must have it......inspect it carefully and take pictures, just in case you have questions later. It may save you some grief later on.
Update: I'm re assessing my review as the owner of Caribou Crossings is giving me options and doing everything to make this a positive experience. TBC
