This was a beautiful store, until about 3 months ago now when it started smelling like the store leased its basement out to a raw sewage treatment plant. If you wouldn't mind shopping inside a clogged Greyhound bus lavatory, then this is the store for you.

They will gouge you on prices. I've (more often than not) seen things at Whole Foods and Market District priced similarly or cheaper.

The things they actually keep do keep in stock are often well past their expiration and I've gotten home to realize that what I bought is a week or so past it's sell/best by date several times. Maybe that last one is my fault, but I should really just be able to pick up some meat without having to check its expiration date, it's kind of their job to rotate stock.

They have also left out a lot of items that have been recalled with no sort of notice whatsoever that something has been recalled such as certain deli meats and a variety of produce.

So if you place any value in your family's health or would rather not gamble on bringing overpriced and rancid food home, I would just shop elsewhere. They clearly don't hire/pay the people they hire to care enough about anything like that.

Though I will say that Kevin's Pharmacy has been very good to me over the years, they've seemed to start slipping a bit the past year or so (e.g. not filling my prescription even after s few days of it getting sent over), but overall a good pharmacy with people who know you and are helpful.

Some items are hard to find due to strange store layout and aisle labels. For example, all the dairy isn't in one section - milk and cream are on opposite ends of the store as yogurt and cheese. And it took quite a while to find basmati rice, which for some reason ended up being in the Mexican food aisle. Spaghetti sauce was also in a different section than things like tomato paste, or canned tomatoes.

The bigger reason for the bad rating is that despite being right next to a light-rail station, the store is designed in a pretty hostile way to pedestrians. There are no sidewalks or stairs leading up the hill to the store, and there is no entrance on the street-facing side of the building, so you have to walk all the way around the building to the far side where the parking lot is.

I shop here all the time and really like this store but this past weekend I was very disappointed. I went to purchase some frozen vegetables and noticed that a few of the freezer doors were blocked off with cones and some rope so I figured something was not working with that particular section of the freezer but the vegetables I always purchase were in a different section. However, when I grabbed a bag of vegetables I could feel that it was completely thawed so apparently there was an issue with this section of the freezer as well. Needless to say I did not purchase those vegetables! I returned to the store yesterday hoping they replenished the thawed vegetables with new inventory but much to my dismay, the vegetables were left as is and were frozen over! When I picked up the bag I could tell immediately that it had been thawed and then frozen over. You could not feel the individual frozen vegetables inside the bag - instead it was a frozen block of ice! I went to the front counter and the employee said he would inform the manager. I have not been back to the store yet to see if anything had been done and if those vegetables have been replenished but the whole experience was disappointing.

This store has had a horrible sewage smell for weeks. Gave me a headache the moment I walked in. Obviously not going to want to consume food bought in a store that smells like that. Tried to go in a 2nd time thinking it was a one time issue but it’s been weeks, won’t be going back.
