A beautiful setting close to Mammoth Lakes but withe a beautiful hike around Convict Lake on your doorstep. Two person cabin was compact but everything you needed including AC, cooking equipment and so on. Bed was comfortable and quiet although it could only be accessed from one side so you need to coordinate getting in and out or climb over one another. Shower was warm and powerful. Lovely sunshine deck and wildlife roaming the site although it was not intrusive. Weddings held onsite but this didn't cause any issues. Staff on site were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great location, about 15 minutes from Mammoth Mountain skiing. We rented a small cabin that was great for our purposes. The onsite restaurant was good. Pete in the office was helpful. History of the lake is interesting.

Pleasant place to stay. Cabin's backyard view into the high mountain walls surrounding Convict Lake. Spa, swing, deck. Ruggedly beatiful scenery and cabins. Be aware that you are very much in nature here. Deer, mice, etc. all ready to steal your stuff. There is a little store and food truck sized restaurant with park benches on grass outside. Everyone was friendly. Of course, Convict Lake itself is very close by, too.

Lots of plusses like others mentioned. This year I liked the lawn trimmer was clean battery operated. Quiet. Unfortunately we had no dishwasher soap, no extra trash bags, and the pull out bed had no comforter. It was 32 in the morning....Now the store had it all the next day, but.... Also they need to stop people from locking in their dogs. One barked all day. The worst however was the maintenance guys. They got little tractors, unlike the maids that zip on quiet, electrical golf carts. Not these guys. Oh no! Stinky, loud tractors, new too! Terrible!! Every morning, full speed, on dirt roads, zipping around, made more dirt than any guest. Terrible pool guys too. Brought my own test kit! These guys can't be bothered to even turn off the engines! Such macho guys. 6 days. Mornings and afternoons. Management let's them do it. That's the worst! Management knows! So if you want quiet, environmentally responsible, no noise, no stink, respectfull vacation, pick somewhere different. You know, the place is always booked anyways, so there is always that "We don't need you, you should be happy you snagged a reservation" thing.... Good luck.

this review is for the cabins. i got married here in june and our bridal party rented the mount morrison cabin. what a nightmare. the first thing we noticed was a mouse had ripped open a bag of peanuts in a drawer (left previously by another guest). i asked the office if they could clean it, since 1) mouse poop and 2) my husband has a severe peanut allergy. we were immediately greeted with a woman with a bad attitude that questioned how we got in the cabin without checking in first (because you emailed us a code). we then realized there was mouse poop everywhere, in every room. the cleaning crew came and cleaned the peanut… but not the rest of the poop.
that night, we were greeted with 5 mice. i went to the office the next day and they said “well we are in the woods, what else do you expect us to do?” they set traps in the cabin. the traps instantly killed three mice. the cleaning crew didn’t pick up the mice, so we ended up having to put the dead mice outside. again, i went to the front desk asking if they could do something. they just set more traps. a few of us began to feel sick in the cabin, but felt better outside the cabin, so the only explanation is really just breathing in mouse poop all the time. i went to the office probably 5 times asking them to stop making us clean dead mice from the cabin. it’s my wedding week and this is embarrassing and stressful!
finally, i broke down in front of my wedding coordinator a day before the wedding, extremely stressed dodging mice in the house and cleaning up their dead bodies. she must have done something, because a few hours later a maintenance crew came in, found the mouse holes, and filled them up. then we had no more mice visit us! i feel so angry about this because they clearly had the resources to fix this, but they didn’t do anything until i was crying. then we had to check out the following day, so we just spent 4 days living with a mouse infestation. they didn’t even give me a full refund which i believe we totally deserved. they gave me a 10% refund and apologized. we paid thousands of dollars for a cabin to deal with dead, bloody mice when they could have fixed it the first day we complained. my wedding was beautiful, but i don’t recommend staying here to anyone. ever.

An appreciative shout out to convict lake resort and the awesome staff that play a role in making this place so special. Every time we come up to mammoth, we always camp here due to the accessibility to the resort and it’s amenities. The amenities that are offered are seriously unbeatable and with how much things have changed over the past few years, we can always count on convict lake resort to make our trip to mammoth feel like old times. Andrew, the maintenance guy, thank you for your hard work for making sure we have clean and functioning amenities. Chris the GM, thank you for your hard work and dedication!

My wife and I went to Convict Lake Resort for a long weekend to celebrate her birthday. We chose the property because of the proximity to Mammoth, and the fact that they let us bring our pups with us. We stayed in Shasta 23, and we really did enjoy our time at the resort. However, there are a lot of updates needed at the facility. So, here are a list of pros and cons:||Pros:|- Location. 20 minutes from Mammoth Village and all that it has to offer. Right off of 395 so easy access. Plus, you can't complain about Convict Lake as a location.|- Pet Friendly|- Cabins are well equipped. Everything you need to cook your own meals.|- Staff is fantastic and were always willing to help in any way.|- Onsite dining: The Restaurant at Convict Lake is a high-end restaurant with fantastic food and service.|- General Store: Well equipped to supply your needs while staying at the resort.|- Super quiet resort. It was nearly sold out, but we didn't have to deal with any serious noise.||Cons:|- Cabins are well worn, at least the one we stayed in. Lots of chipped paint, worn spots on the carpet. Definitely needs updating.|- Roads/Parking: Granted, we went in mid-winter with snow and rain. However, our cabin parking was SUPER muddy. The cabin beside us had gravel over their parking, but none in sight for us.|- Lack of seating: While we knew the cabin was very small, there was no room for chairs other than around the small kitchen table. This meant we had to sit in bed to watch any TV.|- A/C: While we didn't need it, I didn't see any indication of A/C in our cabin. Be aware of this during summer visits.||Honestly, we enjoyed our stay. But, don't go expecting high end. And besides, most people are really using this as a basecamp for all their other activities.
