Workers were very kind, but it took just over 3 hours to get 8 items looked at and they only ended up taking 2 things for about $20 dollars store credit(the items retailed for around $100 each).

Not knocking the workers but after watching the sale/trade process for several hours its clear efficiency and timely work is not this stores strong suit.

If you have clothes you want to sell or trade I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere, otherwise expect a several hour wait and low returns.

This place is fine to shop at but if you’re trying to sell your clothes, highway robbery. Everyone who works there seems to be a little bit rude when they’re looking at your clothes. There’s no good time to go in and I think they stopped taking appointments so it can take hours for them to get to you. I brought in a huge bag of really good clothes - free people, lululemon, Zara - I’ve seen what’s on their racks and my clothes were a lot nicer. Some with tags. They chose 3 pieces, didn’t tell me which or why the others weren’t chosen, gave me a very small amount of cash, then told me they wouldn’t donate the rest so I had to carry the huge bag back to my car - and there is no parking close by. Not worth it. Maybe if you’re super strapped for cash. But it would have been a lot easier to just drop it at goodwill.

Very pleasant shopping experience. Must counter the one review mentioning an odorous element, I noticed the opposite, store very clean and clothing fresh to sight, touch, and scent. I wanted to ask sales person how this was accomplished but the phone rang.
(Have not experienced sell/trade clothes to them yet.)
Great variety, well-kept, checkout swift, pleasant. Will return. .

It’s super busy here. I would rather go somewhere like Goodwill or Savers tho, due to the pricing. It’s wayyyy overpriced than how much it should be. For a Zara shirt, I wouldn’t consider more than $7.99 in the thrift store. However, it costed around $13 while you can get a brand new one for $7 from the clearance rack. Customer service was decent and obviously there were a lot of teenagers and the young pack of ladies in the every corner of this tiny store. However, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for thrifting. Go try your luck somewhere else!

Used clothing and consignment store, essentially an upscale thrift shop in my opinion. That’s a good thing because there are opportunities to find decent items at reasonable prices. I’ve only had experience purchasing here, not selling, so I can’t speak to that. I found the clothes to be clean and in good condition.

every time i've ever been here which used to be quite frequently, the girls behind the counter were always so rude and pretentious, like they are gods gift to humanity. but this was my last straw, i brought in only high quality name brand things to sell and thought surely they will take half of these (given that i have sold so many times and know their preferences/pickiness). Though many of my clothes have not measured up to their "standards", it still took me by surprise they only wanted my overalls which were sturdy vintage riveted Lees, hard to come by and worth like $80. Then she said "$7 cash or $12 trade" like it was nothing, like everything in this store is worth more than that (newsflash, it's not). When i took my overalls and the rest of my clothes and said "no thanks," she was so shocked that i finally woke up from the trance that is trendy thrift stores and tried to call me back in the store. sad.

Hello,
I love my State St. Crossroads here in beautiful Santa Barbara CA. The staff are professional and courageous. Little advice I would give to the store. When trading I have found each staff member has different acceptance on clothes. What may denied one day , will be acceptable the next day. I have tried this and question the service. This is just my opinion.

I visited recently for the first time, and I bought a shirt.
Service was non-existent. The cashier was polite. But a woman who identified herself as the owner was extremely rude and abusive. She even started shouting. Over a period of 26 years,
I grew a retail business in San Francisco starting from
a rented garage, into a chain with 37 employees. Had this woman been one of my employees, she would have been fired on the spot.

I have seen the canned, obviously insincere responses the owner has posted to other negative reviews.
I'm sure she'll do likewise with this review. This place does not deserve your patronage.

Please see the ludicrous response from the owner, below. I'm not sure how the owner, who was deliberately rude, expects that the "regional manager" will be able to correct anything. Please see for yourself the massive number of other negative reviews--many focusing on rudeness-- that have been previously posted by other customers. If the owner were sincere, she would have long ago corrected what is apparently her typical behavior. Or she could have set aside her monumental ego, taken ownership of her actions, and simply have apologized. "I was rude. No excuse. I'm sorry."
That is the way sincere people apologize. The "regional manager?" Really?
