I took my daughter to this place for her birthday because they have a big section of Jellycats. She wanted one so I took her to pick one out her self. The lady downstairs followed me around and kept looking at me. My daughter is indecisive so it took her some time for her to make up her mind. I think she had a suspicion that we were stealing because she did come up to us to ask us to go and pay when we weren’t ready to. I don’t know what made her think we were stealing if we were just shopping around like other people. There were other people shopping there and spent the same amount of time while we were in there but she really kept an eye on us. It made me so uncomfortable so we just quickly payed and left. I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

My son bought socks for his dad for Christmas, said no to the receipt and a bag. As we were browsing, he was asked if he paid for it and told to produce a receipt by another woman at the counter. The manager was of no help. I suppose the store has figured out its best to have non white staff to profile other non whites. Please provide training to your racist staff at the very least.

I have shopped here and always loved the store. Yesterday I bought a green Christmas garland, amongst other things. It was wrapped in cellophane so I could see it, but I didn’t actually touch it until today. I took the cellophane off and noticed that it was broken in the middle- actually twisted so that it wouldn’t/couldn’t lay flat. Half of the decorations faced one way and the other half the other way. I took it back to the store this morning and was told that I should have noticed the sign that said seasonal items were not returnable. She then pointed to a sign (which I obviously didn’t notice) and said “sorry”. I mentioned again that it was non-functional and she once again said “sorry”. I said “so I’m just out my $38?” and she said “yes”. I asked if there was someone else I could talk to and she replied that there was nobody, but that anyone else would say the same thing! I am so very disappointed as it’s been my go-to store for gifts for several years as I live in Walnut Creek and it’s convenient. I will never again set foot in that store! Bye bye David!

David M Brian is part of the McCaulou's Department Store Family. It is a wonderful gift store that has wide varieties and lots of fun stuff. The selection is not as broad as it used to be before the store moved into the smaller space. The staff can be a bit slow to help and respond, but good help is hard to find these days. Lots of fun gift ideas and even good stuff for your own home. Have fun shopping.

I like this place. There are some very nice items. Some are a bit pricey but others very reasonable. This is not a place you want to take small children. There are many things to look at but not touch. They do have gift items for babies and children but not displayed is such a way for kids to be wandering around unsupervised. They have a large selection of actual stationary items, which is hard to find these days. The best section in the store is downstairs where they have many kitchen items. You're bound to find something you haven't seen before or for that hard to buy for foodie friend.

I made a return here today after I made a return at the Brighton Jewelry store a few doors down. The man, the owner, shorted me .09 cents on a return I made. I had my receipt. I paid with cash when I purchased the gift. Nothing was wrong with it and it was still in the giftwrap they wrapped it in after I bought it. He said the taxes have gone up after I bought it so I wasn't getting back what I paid for it. I think I should call the IRS and let them know. Brighton Jewelry gave me back what I paid for their item before the taxes went up. I find this so tacky that I had to post this to let people know. So sad too because this was my favorite store and I have spent a lot of money here over the years. It was only .09 cents so no need to argue for my pennies. It's easier just to go public with it today. Thank you for listening.
