Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Decent deals, even sometimes carrying gently used gear. Speedier service on gear than any dive shop I've ever been to.

I had a great trip with the DOER Excursions Crew to Catalina Island. It was very well thought out and planned. The crew was easy to work with and the entire trip wen off without a hitch. Oh, and I should probably mention the diving was incredible. Over 100’ visibility, kelp and fish for days. Special shoutout to Lauren for really communicating everything thoroughly and clearly. I literally had zero questions once the trip kicked off. A big THANK YOU to the DOER Crew for an amazing trip and I’ll totally dive with those guys again in the future.

Our go-to dive shop and a fantastic one. My husband and I have been coming to DOER for a couple years to organize a Monterey dive, rent gear, Nitrox certification and ultimately build our dive kit. Wouldn’t trust anyone else to build our dive kit with as Jim is THE dive guru; he’s patient, helpful and ultra knowledgeable. He also recommended a dive shop for us in Playa Del Carmen to organize a dive trip there and his recommendation was amazing. DOER is THE East Bay dive shop.

Any place which prioritizes experiences over bottom lines is the place to go. Not only are the staff knowledgeable about all of the equipment, but they have a "try it first" mentality. That is to say, the shop doesn't want to sell you equipment that you may not need and really want you out in the water to test new regulators, BCDs, computers, or fins. Additionally, Jim and his staff are able to work with you to ensure that you're kitted and trimmed in the best way possible for any diving adventure that you may have. I highly recommend the Deep Ocean Explore Store.
