Del Monte Shopping Center - Monterey, California

I visited the shopping center in Monterey on a Saturday around lunchtime, and while the location is great, I was surprised by how little foot traffic there was. It felt quite empty, which is unusual for a weekend. Some stores, like Gap and Victoria's Secret, seem to be struggling, with empty shelves and a lack of new inventory. It would be nice to see more vibrant activity and better product selections to attract shoppers. Overall, the shopping experience could benefit from some revitalization to draw in more customers

I walk the mall early every morning with my dogs, so I get to see the team of people that clean and polish and plant and water to keep this mall sparkling and beautiful. Little known fact, they hire a man to walk around the mall with his hawks to discourage seagulls from nesting there. Just the presence of the hawks is enough.. They don't engage with the seagulls.

This mall has something for everyone including: Macy's, H & M, Starbucks, Hot Topic, See's Candies, Bath & Body, restaurants, a play area for children and a lot more. The center is well maintained and landscaped nicely with plants and benches to sit and rest upon between stores. Clean public restrooms are available for shoppers.

We are very blessed and lucky to have this shopping center. It is a treasure for the county. The landscaping is beautiful and impeccably maintained. All the shops are beautiful and well kept.. many delicious restaurants to eat in. Five stars all the way

It’s clean and pretty. It has a lot of common mall shops. Even with all of that, it’s a shadow of what it was in the 80s & 90s, but it’s family friendly which is becoming a rarity in Monterey County. It has a great movie theater and one of the best local gyms. Parking isn’t bad if you park on the backside. Most people park on the Shop heavy side which is always a hotspot. Meanwhile, if you don’t mind a small walk, which is what you’re going to do at an outdoor mall anyway, the back parking lot is huge and plentiful as well as pretty.

This is a modern mall and a gathering place to enjoy community in a friendly surroundings. It offers all of the creature comforts of a mall with basic daily needs

Macys is the anchor store and there are lots other stores not mentioned that are just as good

There is a row of Tesla chargers and a few other non-Tesla basic chargers in the parking area.

There is a regular farmers market that is great and a cinema.

You can find tons of parking in this mall and it is very nicely maintained. Easy access off of highway and Munras goes into Downtown Monterey!

As a local Monterey county resident I can say without hesitation or doubt that Del Monte shopping center really isn't that great. The mall is poorly laid out in split levels and the parking situation is terrible. Parking spaces are very tight and poorly laid out. This shopping centre is also not handicapped friendly. The layout and design makes it very difficult for people using a wheelchair or walker. The main area of the mall where Macy's is located can be extremely difficult to access from the back area parking lot if you are handicapped. A person must go into Macy's and use the elevator if they want access to the other stores in the Mall. Just hope the elevator is functional. This Mall also has a problem with the homeless panhandling and becoming aggressive. It can be very annoying. I myself really don't find anything that great about Del Monte shopping centre that would make me want to visit the boring place. The restaurants are below average and the stores and botiques aren't that great. Boring mall that I rate below average. In the 70's and 80's is when this mall actually had decent places to shop and eat at.

During my visit to Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey, I had a really enjoyable experience. The outdoor layout was refreshing, making it more than just a shopping trip—it felt relaxing to walk around. I found a great mix of stores, from Macy's for essentials to Lush for some indulgent self-care products. Grabbing a coffee at Starbucks and later enjoying sushi at Yama Sushi Bar made it a well-rounded day.

Parking was easy, which is always a plus, and the center was clean and well-maintained. However, I did notice that a couple of stores seemed to have closed, which limited some options. Still, for its convenience, variety, and atmosphere, it’s a place I’d visit again!
