I moved to the Willits area approximately a year ago and only very recently visited Fish Out of Water for the first time. At first, I experienced a bit of sensory overload with the noises and the variety of cool animals. Interestingly enough, I was soon taken back by how welcoming, warming, comforting, and even calming the pet store is. What was almost immediately evident to me was the amount of children coming in and going out of the pet store with such ease, excitement, and joy. I have seen children ride their bikes to the pet store, walk to the pet store after school, and heard (multiple times) my own high school students rave about the pet store. They are actually the ones who encouraged me to go to the store to purchase an aquarium and fish. Now, I feel drawn to visit the pet store at least once a week; it feels like a therapy session in the best way possible. Simply put - this place is a safe haven for everyone, but especially for the children of our community. Melissa's presence is comparable to that of a fairy god mother. It is so easy to see that she genuinely cares for her animals and her customers. I am so grateful to/for Melissa and all she does for the community by way of Fish Out of Water.

My dog Mendi is a little stinker to try and clip her nails so I have Melissa the owner do it for her. She's the best. Awesome little pet shop she has going on. Clean, friendly, knowledgeable and a great place to visit. Thanks for being there for us. We love you!

Melissa is an absolute darling, I came here with my 1.5 year old son for one small thing and Melissa took the time to show my son a bunch of animals! It was really sweet and wholesome especially during this crazy time. Thank you Melissa, we’ll be back!

Stumbled across this by chance while we were passing by the town. We had 6 gallon fish tank for the kid and need some lifely aquatic creatures in it they have decent variety of fresh water fish, water plant and some others necessarily items for your tank. The owners are lovely Im glad there's this place exists so we don't have to drive all the way down south for the tank supplies.

This place is great! My husband, who is blind, really caught the attention of their parrot! The staff was super helpful and friendly. We can't wait to go back!

Pet stores are awful, we all know that. HOWEVER, this pet store is so extremely well taken care of. The owner is really kind and is able to answer more than half of my questions. I usually go in to buy fish and fish supplies, but they also carry birds, reptiles, cats, amphibians, and bunnies/guinea pigs. You can tell the animals are so well taken care of here! If you have doubts you can go at the right time and actually see the feeding hours. Gosh, this store is amazing. It can be a little pricey, but it's because their products are actually GOOD. The prices for the animals are all very reasonable. Recently bought a baby dumpy frog for $60 when everywhere else would've charged me $170. I love this pet store.

My family and I often stop buy just to see what the critters are up to and staff is always friendly and engaging. Today we came in to build up a starter aquarium. Staff was extremely helpful in suggesting hardy fish pairings, and in select some live and dehydrated foods. They are even happy to test our tanks water should we have any problems. Its great that we have a good ol' fashion petstore to serve the Ukiah and Willits area. Also their birds are so fun!
