I recently visited this shop while on a cruise out of Seattle. I stopped in when a friend went knife shopping and as I looked around the people there assisted me at looking at some other items and I ended up buying a knife aswell. I got back on the boat and I wish I had bought another as a gift so I called from the boat and not only did they assist me in getting another knife ordered they also kept me very informed up until it was delivered via USPS in Texas. Awesome customer service and love the above and beyond attitude I got from every person I met or spoke with. Would love to come back soon!

This is a very nice store and the employees are good. We made a purchase and paid for shipping to our home, but unfortunately there was a shipping mix-up with our order and we got somebody else's item and they got ours. Hickok's was really great to work with resolving the problem. In today's world it's sometimes hard to find a business that has its customers at the forefront, but I'd say Hickok's does. They get an A+ for integrity and service.

While I was looking at souvenir bookmarks, at Hickoks Trading Co on 285 South Franklin Street, Juneau, on a revolving rack designed for these bookmarks with preprinted prices on the display and on the bookmarks, a sales clerk came over and started repricing the bookmarks I was looking at $1.00 higher per bookmark. She said they were priced wrong. That same afternoon, we visited two other stores in Juneau -- both of these had the exact same bookmarks on the exact same racks with the original prices, which was $3.95 or $3.99 per bookmark. The price I paid according to receipt in front of me: $4.99 per bookmark. It seemed like as soon as cruise ship customers started entering, she ran over to reprice higher.

Do I care about an extra $2 spent: not usually. But I do not care for gouging. 25% increase while I was selecting what I was going to buy, after they were already in my hands.

It’s a good selection of a lot of items, and they have some nice postcards, though they are a little pricier than some of the area. Beware though, they charge tax on a non-item. My purchase was less than $10 so they added $.50 but I got taxed on the $.50.

Very pleasurable experience talking with sales lady. She was great. Happy to see the store is owned by a local and the proceeds go to a local owner. It was nice to see a local that was willing to give it to us straight and not point us in the direction of the tourist traps.
