Vegan Cake Review

I recently ordered a vegan cake from this bakery, which requires pre-orders for vegan options. The staff was polite, patient, and attentive throughout the process. The cake’s decoration was simple yet visually pleasing.

I opted for a 6” vegan chocolate cake with vegan vanilla icing. Following their recommendation, I refrigerated the cake for 2 hours before cutting it. While this helped the icing and texture firm up nicely for clean slicing, the cake itself felt quite dense.

In terms of taste, the cake leaned heavily on the sweeter side. While sweetness levels are subjective, in my experience, this is quite common with vegan cakes in the Bay Area. If I had to rate the sweetness, it would be a 12/10 for my personal palate. Those who prefer less sugary desserts may want to keep this in mind.

It’s worth noting that orders are only taken via phone or walk-in. As walk-ins weren’t convenient for me, I placed the order over the phone and shared my card details verbally. To ensure a safer transaction, I recommend using an Apple Card or its virtual feature.

Overall, while the cake was well-made and aesthetically pleasing, I’d suggest being mindful of the sweetness level based on your preference.

The shop itself is so cute and there are so many delicious looking cupcakes, cakes, cookies and pies! I ordered the banana cake for my husband's birthday which turned out great. It's almost like a banana bread with frosting.
There is parking behind the shop specifically for icing on the cake customers.

This is such a lovely shop! The scents of vanilla and cinnamon welcome you in along with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The owner was a delight and made our experience. The cases are filled with wonderful cake loaves, cookies, cupcakes, and other delicious sweets.This bakery also offers a wonderful array of gifts, cards, and party essentials that make it the perfect place for all of your holiday and celebration treats!

The bakery is cute and set up really nicely. Little trinkets and yummy bakery items adorn the interior.

The desserts are generally good but I an’t say everything is consistently good. They’re known for the banana cake and I do like it! It has a bit too much icing but you can adjust that with your own fork! 🙂

Should be renamed “Lard on the Carpet”. I like to support my local bakery, but over the last 20+ years, its prices have gone up and the quality down.

Recently, I tried the $5.00 “chocolate” cupcake with “vanilla” icing. No chocolate flavor, just a dry, stale sponge. No “vanilla” flavor, just cloyingly sweet muck. Inedible – threw away $4.50 worth of crappy cupcake.

Great store and amazing service! The food was slightly disappointing. They do have gluten free options but NO keto options. We sampled a couple of treats and even the brownie was way too sweet. Please half the sweetness? 🙏🏽
