I recently shopped for a rug at the Berkeley location. They have so many rugs to choose from, and the quality is incredible! I had been looking for rugs online, which are often cheaper, but they are also not of great quality. Istanbul Rug has such gorgeous and high-quality rugs, and the staff are super friendly and patient. They even have repair staff in the office. They spent so much time pulling out rugs that I wanted to see. I ended up choosing between five rugs and finding a spectacular Turkish wool rug for my office that I really love. It is truly a piece of art! They even were willing to negotiate with me on the price. Overall, a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend this business!

Proud to see a Turkish rug store in United States. I have lived in several states and never encountered a Turkish rug store this nice and professional. I had a couple of antique qum silk rugs That needed TLC. The rugs came back, looking brand new and alive aa ever. I have used another company in the area for washing before and I must İstanbul Rug’s prices are a bit higher, but the But the workmanship is incomparable - they also have their own rug repairman.

We highly recommend Istanbul Rug! Cem is responsive, very dependable, and highly observant/sensitive to one’s style preferences. Hamid repaired the fringe on my 15-year old Persian rug—it looks brand new! And the rug cleaning service brought all the original colors back to new. I couldn’t be happier. I’m also extremely pleased with the 17’ hall runner we purchased. It transforms the space into a place to BE, not just pass through. The beautiful runner coordinates perfectly with the other, older rugs in my home, and that is due to Cem’s experienced aesthetic. He knew exactly what would work! Ogi is so friendly and helpful. No amount of carrying rugs in and out, shifting about furniture and discussing various choices is asking too much. Plenty of honest explanations of his recommendations without the more common hard-sell pitches. He convinced me to replace a factory-made rug in my dining area with a more colorful hand-knotted rug and I couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend working with Istanbul Rug of Menlo Park before selecting the integral floor covering to shape and enhance your chosen decor.

The rugs came back very clean and they feel soft again so in terms of cleaning they did a great job. My issue and my rating is due to their pricing and customer service. Their price was quite expensive and they were upfront about the high cost on a viscose rug that they said would cost more. I agreed to the cost given I hadn’t ever cleaned these rugs and I was hoping they could get the stains out. I had an area jute rug, a viscose rug, a wool rug, and two small door entry jute rugs and although some of the rugs had some stains that needed extra work to get out, the cost was around $2,760 which included an additional $800 to clean out some stains including some mold. I don’t know the running cost of rug cleaning, but that seemed quite high to me. They also charged me the additional $800, but they didn’t let me know about it until they dropped them off. They should be more upfront about additional costs rather than surprise the customer after the job is done, especially if they know certain stains will cost more. I don’t mind paying more for a good job, but the lack of transparency in pricing is unsettling to me. It also took them almost 4 weeks to get the rugs back to me. I called them after two weeks had passed and they said they should be ready in the coming week. I didn’t get any call back about the rugs and I had to reach out to them again. When l called and expressed my concerns, the person on the phone said “I’ve been out of the country so I’m not sure what happened, I will have someone call you in the next few days.” First of all, what does being out of the country have to do with me and my rugs? Secondly, what do you mean by a “few days” when the last time I called I was told they would be ready “sometime this week” and I got no call back and I had to call and check the status of my rugs which was still unclear to me at this point. At this point I had to press the issue and say it’s been almost 4 weeks and I need an answer asap and not a “few more days” or “sometime this week”. After pressing him, the guy then said he would have Ogi call me in a few hours and he said the rugs are in his car. Why are the rugs in his car? Are they done with the cleaning? Was he planning on dropping them off soon and I just wasn’t aware of it or do they stay in his car until he’s ready to notify the customer? That just seems not secure to leave expensive rugs in your car unless you have plans to drop them off that day. Ogi then called me later that day and said he had called me the week before and left a voicemail. I checked my phone logs and didn’t see any voicemail from him. He said he went ahead and approved the cleaning job for me. What does this mean? Why would you approve the cleaning job for me? I didn’t even know customer approval was part of the process, why was I not notified until they got dropped off? Again, the rugs are clean and they did a great job reviving them, and Ogi is nice, but the customer service and transparency on pricing and status is really a mystery to me. For how much the job cost, I really expect better follow through. They should have a better estimate of when the rugs will be ready, how much to expect for additional charges, and some way to follow up with the customer throughout the process rather than surprising them at the end. Unless I can’t find a comparable company to clean my rugs, I’m not sure if I feel comfortable going with them again.

The best your money can buy.

These High quality hand made rugs are unique and beautiful. The price is also fair.

Keep in mind these are not ikea or crate & barrel stuff, we are talking about high end unique rugs.

We shopped a few stores during the weekend and could not find any place with better prices for similar quality. After visiting many stores, at the end of the day, nobody could beat these guys.

We ended up buying two rugs, 8x10' and 8x8'. The 8x10 goes in the living room, the 8x8 goes in the dinning room.

Foot note: Be aware the store is owned by Turkish people and, as you might already know, they are very aggressive sales people. Meaning you may end up buying more than expected, as we did.

A friend recommended me to this rug store because he bought a rug from here. I was looking to see if I could get a custom order rug because I was looking for a abstract modern rug. Ogi kindly greeted me and showed me around. His knowledge on rugs is what helped me figure out what kind of rug i wanted. Once we got the order in, he said I would have to wait about 3 - 6 months for the rug to come in. I got it in 4 months. Have to say I really like the rug. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for quality rugs and service. Ogi went pass my expectations to get me the rug I wanted!
