My go to place for cakes and bakery goods, but I have been disappointed several times in the meat department. The prices are 2-3 times more than most grocery stores in the area, so I really don’t expect old ground beef sandwiched under a fresh looking surface. At 10$ a pound for ground beef, I expect better quality. My pasta bolognese was ruined!

I Love Kings in Upper Montclair!! I shopped yesterday. When I got home, I didn’t have my wallet. One of the employees found my wallet on the ground outside by the carts; he brought it in; kept it safe for me until I was able to come back and pick it up!!

Quality is good, cleanliness is great, everything is well stocked and neatly ordered, but the prices are between 30% and 300% more than I'm used to in a more sane and reasonable metropolitan area. $5 a pound for bell peppers is nuts. $4 each for avocados is unfathomable. Two bags of groceries that are $120ish at the high end grocer where I'm from were over $300 here. No. Just, no.

This place is and has always been wildly overpriced relative to Whole Food's, ACME, ShopRite, and other local options. Whatever, I go here out of convenience and for the apparently fresher proteins. Unfortunately, the staff have become increasingly impolite over the years. Go to the deli for fresh cold cuts and folks tending the counter act as if servicing you is an imposition…vacant stares and grunts. Ask for a specific weight of chicken or ground beef from a “butcher” is met with a gruff “no can do.” I’m guessing overpriced groceries are not supporting better wages and employees are not incentivized to treat customers kind. No service or courtesy to go with overpriced groceries - no thanks. I’ll stick to the other stores from now on.
