The amazing thing is why I waited so long to review a business that I’ve been in love with for 14 years! When designer Kristina Runske opened her store on a prime commercial stretch of San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood, Minimal quickly became my go-to brick and mortar for reasonably priced unique gifts for any occasion.

Purchasing 10-12 gifts a year, not one of over 100 gift recipients was anything less than enthusiastic about their gift from Minimal. All asked where I found that solar expandable camp lantern, the Festive champagne glasses, the lovingly designed card holders, the organic candles, uniques tea blends, extra soft throws, flat glass water flasks, one of a kind flower vase, never saw that before rings and bracelets, trivets emulating the early 20th century crafts movement, industrial looking ink pens and so on.

My review doesn’t come near doing justice to this store. It includes loving design elements, playful palates of colors and textures, sophisticated displays and Kristina’s Zen spirit, which glows from within a beautiful Swedish woman. Shop there for gifts - and get something for yourself!

Shop local and support your neighborhood instead of big box stores and corporations.

This shop has a great selection of good home goods and beautiful Swedish woven rugs. We originally stopped in just to look but left with a small bookcase and a rug.

Shout-out to Güler for being so kind and accommodating; this is the exact type of business everyone should want in their own neighborhood.
