Was told not to come here because allegedly the owner can be rude and the place smells like weed. I went anyways. Both counts were true. I picked a book off the shelf and the owner came up to tell me it was sold as a set, and that it “was very expensive” before just…walking away? Selling as a set is fair. Selling at whatever price you deem fit is fair. But the whole interaction gave me the impression he didn’t want to sell (so why was it on the shelf? Why not tell me the price?) and was very dismissal. Felt very uncomfortable.

The observance of hermits is a rare find. A conglomerate of books on any subject, some very old and rare while others are newer. The owner, Yan, is a very knowledgeable person who reads and knows his books. For book lovers, culture lovers, this is a must visit.

Hands down the coolest bookshop I’ve ever been in. Just walking through this place is a singular experience. Yan is a character as colorful and eccentric as the store itself. Despite the store’s quaint and unkempt appearance, overflowing with everything from 19th century dime novels to rare, signed books to locally harvested animal bones and the odd tchotchke, Yan can find a seemingly obscure book in a heartbeat. If you’re willing to listen, he has a wealth of passion for and knowledge about all things literary, and loves nothing more than a like-minded stranger to share them with. A true staple of Homer, AK.

Store was very cluttered & disorganized. Wanted to purchase a ya book to finish my collection of a series in a certain cover, but they were unwilling to separate it from the others in the set... although what they had in stock was also incomplete. As it is a common edition, I didn't understand their refusal to sell.

Nicest owner. Gives kids (and adults) a free book for starting the Harry Potter series. Knows his info on all the books it seems and will unbox and dig through his stack of books to find what you are looking for. We went twice on our trip to Homer and can’t wait to go again next summer.

Quirky bookstore! There are books absolutely everywhere here. They are pretty well arranged by genre, but many are stacked 2 or 3 deep on the shelves so I left feeling like I left having only seen about 40 percent of the books I browsed. You have to move books around to see many others that are buried or covered up. Was a fun place to browse.

The bibliophile's paradise. Shop owner knows where everything is so you can ask, but it's infinitely more fun to set aside a few hours to explore. AMAZING selection. 500/5 stars.

I was looking to buy a 1st US printing edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. After being misled by an online seller, I was pointed to this shop, and boy, did they come through. Yan contacted me directly and was extremely helpful in determining if what he had was what I was looking for. On top of that, he gave me a truly unbeatable price. He packaged the book for contactless pickup, and everything was smooth and seamless. I’ll be using this bookshop more often, from now on.
