My wife and I had the pleasure of staying this past weekend at the charming Packard House. It’s not inexpensive, but for an indulgent weekend, I highly recommend it. We had previously stayed at the Blue Door Inn, so I figured that if the Packard House is a related property, we’d be in good hands. Without a doubt, we were.||||We arrived a bit after 6 pm, which meant we needed to arrange for an after-hours check-in. The process was simple by following the steps emailed and texted to us from the Inn. We arranged for the King Guest Room, which is not part of the main house but located just in the back. The room itself was immaculate with a very comfortable king-sized bed and a fireplace, which we used throughout our stay. We also took advantage of the comfortable couch for our evening reading. I really liked the fact that the room had two doors: one that accessed the street where we were parked, and the other accessing the beautiful backyard of the inn. In warmer weather, I’d definitely spend some time on our private garden patio. As the room isn’t part of the main house, it was silent.||||For those of you (myself included) bringing your various computers, iPhones, iPads, camera batteries, etc., they have great WiFi coverage and power plugs to keep them running. Once you put in the WiFi password at the Packard House, it will also work at the Blue Door, so you can text all your friends to let them know how much fun you’re having over a glass of wine.||||The “Breakfast” part of B&B was excellent. It was delivered in an insulated basket to our door each morning by a friendly staff member and consisted of hot coffee and various other sweet and savory items that worked quite well at giving us energy for the day. I appreciated the fact that each basket contained a menu so we knew exactly what each dish was. We always brought our basket into the main house to eat at the 8-person dining room table, but most people seemed to prefer to stay in their rooms.||||On two of the evenings, we were able to take advantage of the complimentary wine and cheese hour, held between 4 and 5 pm at the Blue Door Inn. The “cheese plate” was stacked full of items that paired very well with either the red or white wine. It’s an event that you shouldn't miss, so be sure to plan your days accordingly.||||Last but not least, as it was my wife’s birthday, the inn made arrangements for a very thoughtful birthday card as well as a couple of treats from Mendocino Chocolate Company. A wonderful gesture that made the weekend even more special. I can’t recommend the Packard House enough.

This place is so quaint, cute, and unique! My mom and I stayed for my birthday and it was such a good time. I do have to say, $500 a night during peak season is a bit pricey for the quality. We paid off peak season rates and I feel like that was just right. They made every food and allergy accommodation I had with complete care. They were extremely kind and generous to my mom even though she was a bit overbearing in her requests haha! Aside from the excellent service, the details of the hotel need a bit more care and attention. The furniture was a bit dirty and worn. It was nice to have nice and updated games downstairs to play. But, some of the furniture needs some cleaning and updating. They were so very kind to leave a nice note and some Mendocino Chocolates for my birthday as well! Overall, I’d say the pros outweighed the cons with our stay.

My wife and I recently spent an extended weekend at the charming Packard House. While it's not the most budget-friendly option (but what is in Mendocino), it's perfect for a special occasion, and I very much recommend it. Having stayed at the Blue Door Inn before, we expected similar excellence from this related property, and we weren't disappointed.

We arrived a little after 6 pm and had to arrange for an after-hours check-in. The process was seamless, thanks to the detailed instructions emailed and texted to us. We booked the King Guest Room, which is separate from the main house, located just behind it. The room was very clean, featuring a very comfortable king-sized bed and a fireplace that added a cozy touch to our stay. The couch was perfect for our evening reading sessions. I particularly appreciated the two doors in the room—one leading to the street where we parked and the other opening to the inn’s backyard. In warmer weather, I would definitely enjoy some time on our private garden patio. Since the room isn’t part of the main house, it was very quiet.

For those who travel with multiple gadgets like laptops, iPhones, iPads, and camera batteries, the inn offers excellent WiFi access and plenty of power outlets. Once you enter the WiFi password at the Packard House, it works at the Blue Door too, making it easy to stay connected and share your experiences with friends.

The breakfast, delivered in an insulated basket to our door each morning by a friendly staff member, was outstanding. It included hot coffee and a variety of sweet and savory items that provided a great start to our day. Each basket came with a menu detailing the dishes, which was a nice touch. We preferred to take our basket into the main house to eat at the large dining room table, but most guests chose to enjoy their breakfast in their rooms or on their outdoor porches.

We also took advantage of the complimentary wine and cheese hour held between 4 and 5 pm at the Blue Door Inn on two evenings. The cheese plate was generously stocked with items that paired wonderfully with both red and white wine. It's an event you shouldn't miss, so be sure to plan your schedule around it.

Last, the inn went above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday special. They arranged for a thoughtful birthday card and a couple of treats from Mendocino Chocolate Company, adding a personal touch that made our weekend even more memorable. I can’t recommend the Packard House enough.

Spent a Saturday night for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary, and our stay made it even more special than I could possibly imagine. We booked directly through the website which gave us a few wine tastings as apart of a package and WOW! Truly made our trip worthwhile and the 3 hour drive from the city more bearable 😅 we got to try places we wouldn’t even think to stop at. When we finally made it to Mendocino, the complimentary wine and cheese hour upon checking in was such a warm welcome. Once we got to the room, we were blown away by how spacious and private it was. We hadn’t even checked out before I was telling all my friends to check this place out. Definitely coming back!

Such a dreamy, lovely place to stay! Everything about this experience was flawless, from the friendly assistance booking our reservation to the kind follow up upon checkout. The breakfasts were delicious, the Garden Cottage was spacious and so comfy (and quiet!), and the location was perfect. We were especially appreciative of the efforts made to accommodate our 8-month-old, even though this property is usually aimed at adults. Already can’t wait to return!

We stayed at the cottage at the Packard House, the room was nice, the staff friendly and breakfast was good. My only hesitation in giving a higher rating is that the shower is extremely small. My husband is tall and the shower stall was really too small for him. So just keep that in mind when booking a room. I did not see the other rooms, but assume they are similarly furnished, so if you are tall, pick a room with a different bathroom. I would stay here again, but in a different room.

We got an upgraded room with a slice of ocean view. It was also very clean. The room lacked chairs. This was inconvenient. We got a covid style breakfast with room delivery. It arrived late morning. The food was unrecognizable, and jammed into small pots. Coffee was not good. Security was poor, as the front door to the house had a broken lock.

We stayed at Packard House for our anniversary. It was a great location down the street from the coastal trail and in the quiet area of town. However, we did have some issues with the room. We chose the Garden Cottage room to have a larger area to relax given we knew we would be limited with evening activities due to Covid. We never were able to get the WiFi working at this location, so you may want to stay at the Blue Door Inn if WiFi is important for your stay. We also had issues with ants, and some even came home with us on our bags. Be aware there is a large step down into the bathroom in this room (close to a foot). Also, it would have been nice to have some drawers for clothes rather than just a bookshelf. And they had no extra blankets, which may be due to covid limitations but would have been nice to have on the couch. The staff at Blue Door were very friendly but unfortunately could not resolve the WiFi issue for us.
