It is about the same as any store you go to, The price is high and they don't have a lot of stuff in stock.... But the people who work there are what keep me going there you'll find the best staff I have ever had the pleasure of shopping at a store and meeting a few of the staff members that remember you and just have gone out there way to make me feel ⁴ someone who they remember and have let me know that this is my community store and I belong here as someone who is part of the community and this is where I belong when I spend my money I come here first ... I also love that they have the Amazon pick up boxes there in the store.. it is easy to get to and use .... It is my favorite neighborhood store[

I am giving this grocery store 2 stars because the Pharmacy does a good job. Other than that this store is terrible. I used to shop here regularly but the produce was consistently old. I have not had other issues with the other food but also only ate prepackaged foods. I regularly hear fights and alerts occurring. Like one in every 5 times. The parking lot is much worse than your average parking lot for the area. There are a lot people milling around the parking lot asking for money and one guy even tried to powerwalk towards me. The lines are usually 3-7 people long with no self checkout.

Came in here and looks like a freaking jail they have an entire wall and door for the alcohol section both bathrooms are obviously working but have out of order signs on top of them which is completely unacceptable and lazy for this establishment to allow the bathrooms to be 24 hours closed people come here for that reason and buy the product because of their bathrooms but of course they're doing bare minimum over here. Let's see we're disappointed was looking forward to coming here but I just can't get past the bathrooms being locked and everything being locked up on every aisle with aisles have complete empty shelves on them some of them. Then when asking for the code they were very standoffish about it didn't come back had to ask him again completely disrespectful this is a public restroom and they're holding a hostage that's so unacceptable it's not even funny and to lie and tell people it's out of order is completely unprofessional please Safeway change this branch and get them on the right path.

How does this place have four stars? I’ve been coming here for almost ten years and the experience just keeps getting worse. They never have enough cashiers, and they just removed the self-checkout area, which already wasn’t very good because half the registers were down every time. They’ve also started locking up big sections of the store, and it takes an eternity for them to come open the doors. The deli is understaffed and unsanitary; I actually called the health department in the a few years ago bc they were leaving the meat out on the counter for long periods of time. Oh, and I never fail to get solicited outside the store. Just such a crappy experience. Do not recommend

Update: I was stuck on the freeway for an hour because of flooding due to heavy rainfall. I just wanted to get dinner supplies and go home. After I finally got back to Oakland, I stopped here, hoping to get food and use the restroom. I was somewhat dismayed to find both public restrooms have been permanently locked. I very quickly got my food and waited in the eternal checkout line, then ran to my car and put my groceries away before going back into the rain around the side of the store. Luckily, there was a free public restroom, i.e. a utility door set into the building.

This pharmacy is the most helpful and competent in the area. I was sick and needing antibiotics, and had to switch to this place after experiencing the worst customer service at the Temescal Walgreens. First, I called in to check whether I would be able to reach a human, and not only did they answer within a few rings, the pharmacist was kind, helpful in letting me know how to order from their app, and the status of my prescription, and THEN when I went to pick up my prescription, the same gentleman remembered me from my call, and kindly informed me he had automatically added a coupon since I was paying out of pocket. I was treated with dignity during a time when I was feeling my absolute worst, and honestly it made me want to cry with gratitude. I am very grateful to this pharmacy and its technicians. You all deserve raises ? Customer for life. Also, to the people complaining that this place is ‘ghetto’ etc, it is not the store/employees’ fault that the area has challenges with theft. That is the entire bay area right now, and you should know better. Let’s support the businesses that are actually serving their customers despite these circumstances.

Don't go to this Safeway the Hispanic short old Latino old lady with gray curly hair supposedly she's a manager she says , Everytime I shop their I always have a problem with her she always does stuff to purposely piss me off I went last time for a money order and wanted one check she purposely split my money order in two checks knowing I wanted one I asked her to put it in one check she said I can't I never had a problem in no money order where they couldn't put it in one check this isn't the first time she messed up my order. Her employee that work there scam ppl my daughter last time bought an apple gift card they scammed me 14 year old daughter $80 they never put the money in the gift card and when we went to report it the same manager covered up for her employee and said she did and that it's on apple to fix it even after I called apple costumer service they said that card was never activated from Safeways end.

I tried to buy some fresh produce, salad, broccoli.... Even though I took my time and selected the best they had, it was still too close to expired or expired. Threw away 40$ worth of produce, yea, it was expensive too...

The only worth getting here is beverages. I wanted to get some packs of Gatorade and those are now 12$ for an 8 pack.

I don't think I will be returning to Safeway again. It's a zombie store...

The lines were long and only 3 check out lines were open. Some one had a medical emergency inside the store
