Today was my first day here at this place. I brought 2 bags of clothes to sell and when I asked the front girl she was very helpful and told me that they have a buyer only in the mornings. When she asked another girl if they could check my clothes, she was rude and gave me an attitude. I'm not going to argue because I'm 5 months pregnant. I don't think I'm going back to this place again.

Let me start by saying they do have cute stuff here, I can normally find something I'd like, although nothing is crazy unique. On the other hand, the staff is pretty unhelpful and sometimes rude. They seem to always be understaffed because the wait time for selling is often at least an hour or two. Not too surprising but they hardly pay anything, even for high-end items. I've never left not disappointed from this location :/ I've been many times and I think I'm done trying.

Good Plato’s. Bigger than the one by UC SD. My opinion is average selection. I feel UC SD tiny shop has more quality stuff.

Black Friday has great coupon for savings but limited to SD area shops.

Plato’s closet is great and very affordable, the place itself is a 100/10 and perfect for any season. The only issue is the people that work there, all of them are teen girls that are disrespectful and judgy. They all give snobby looks and attitude.

I’ve been to this shop multiple times, to the point where i would probably consider myself a regular here. they have pretty good items on sale if you know where to look. if you’re trying to sell clothes i would avoid doing so here. however the customer service here is a hit or miss. sometimes i will be met with the sweetest, super helpful girls, and other times some will be gossiping about customers 🙁 as someone who has worked in customer service for a while, i feel that it is common sense not to speak about customers IN earshot of others currently shopping. i fully understand how difficult it is to work with the public sometimes but when you’re clocked in, it isn’t the time to air your feelings out about it.

I call this place 2 days ago and they told me I can sell my items which needed to be in 2 bags. I went to the store at 6 o’clock and they told me that they stopped the selling process at 5 o’clock. Which she could have told me over the phone. I came in today to the store with 2 bag, the clothing items I had in the bags were not worn out and dirty, most of the clothes that were in bags we’re brand clothes that are known. she told me to come back in 3 hours and do I did when I came back to the store a rude employee took the receipt and told us out of the whole 2 big bags they only took 2 items which was a truck suit. The truck suit was worth over 50$ and she decided to give me 4$ for it. This place is a joke. Do not come to this place. Do not sell your items to this place. If you are wanting to sell your clothes don’t come here!

I’m gonna start out by saying that one of the girls who checked me out was quite possibly one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I didn’t catch her name but I believe it started with an A. She honestly seemed like she either hated her job or hated her life. Maybe both. She just seemed like she was so bothered that she had to ring me up and answer my questions. I also want to add that I was the only person in line and the store was pretty empty, so it wasn’t busy. I tried to be nice but she didn’t really lighten up. I also work in the customer service industry myself so I actually understand what satisfactory customer interactions are supposed to look like. She was not it. Other than the terrible customer service, I love Plato’s Closet for their selection and prices.

I feel compelled to write a new review. Most of the reviews I read before coming to Plato's were not accurate - at all. I'm so thankful I went tonight, regardless of how many negative reviews there are. I believe a few people had experiences they were not happy with but that the majority of people have a perfectly great experience. What I read in the reviews and my actual experience was completely different. If you're thinking about visiting Plato's, I would highly recommend going.

My son and I were in the store for about 45 minutes and this is what I observed:

- The staff seemed completely fine to me. They all seemed pleasant, were working very hard and there was zero drama.

- Great selection for everyone. Lots of everything (for men and women). Shirts, shorts, jeans, jackets, workout attire, shoes, jewelry, etc.

- A few 70% off racks (great deal!).

- Lots of brand new or lightly worn items. Nice quality and good brands. Lots of shoes that have never been worn (heels, flats, boots, sneakers).

- Customers were all shopping peacefully and they seemed like a great group of people, having a more than pleasant experience.

- Clothing is catered to a more hip crowd, which I loved. But also lots of basics, which was nice.

- There were reviews complaining about how the staff did not buy their clothes or bought very few items. This place is packed with clothes. I understand why the staff is very selective with what they choose to buy. It's clear they only want to add good pieces to their inventory.

- Great experience. Very busy place, I was impressed by how many people were shopping.

- I would definitely go back.
