Ethically questionable business practice. No, you don't have to call every consignor when their clothing is sold. And the fine print does warn that checks must be picked up within a year. But you COULD send a check for the money owed the consignor in a timely manner...just as most other consignment stores do. It IS our money after all, and you DO have our addresses on file. I suspect you know that a certain percentage of clients will get busy with life and will assume their consigned clothing just didn't sell, as is what happened with me. Hard lesson learned.

A little disappointed after bringing my leather jacket home. I found out it’s vegan leather and can’t find anything on the brand online. $300 for pre owned faux leather doesn’t feel right and it seems I’ve been scammed. Definitely research any product before purchasing because there are no returns and sadly you can’t trust that items are priced/labelled honestly.

Wonderful selection, organized in a very easy to understand way. The staff are above and beyond, by knowing fashion and understanding what looks best on you, not just for your body, but for your coloring and your style.
I've never seen so many designer labels at any other consignment shop. These are professional, they are the pinnacle.

Renaissance is a resale shop but consigners beware. The store has a dirty little secret! And it's not just the clothes.
It wasn’t until last week when I went to my closet that I remembered what I wanted to wear was at Renaissance in Santa Barbara. When I called the store, I was told, “Oh, it sold in December ’21.
But there was no notice to me of the sale OR my 40% check snail mailed to me.
I had come several times after consigning it in December ’19 to retrieve it But was always persuaded to leave it on sale!
Last week, the staff said, "we don’t have time to call or mail a check every time we sell something. So, we wrote you a check and kept it for a year. But you never came to pick it up (because I wasn’t told it was there) and now we don’t owe you anything."
So, they sold my designer jacked for hundreds of dollars and kept all the money for themselves. This is theft. They are stealing our clothes and our commissions. Please don't go there!

A great shop with the highest of standards! As a consignor myself I have brought hundreds of items in that go through a thorough examination process by either Holland or Joanne. Many of the items I thought were great don't quite pass their high standards. It must be in season and perfect and this is what makes this shop special! They mark down items every month so there are always bargains to be found. Always, check in as the stock changes weekly. Tip: Get on the mailing list!

I've had a collection of very high end clothing, most of it still with tags on, from a former employer in SF. Most consignment operations are not well suited to selling this quality of clothing, but Renaissance is. Lovely store, employees and location - top quality merchandise, fairly priced. Well worth a look for anyone who like value and designer quality clothing. Something for everyone.
