Janabi the owner was above & beyond helpful picking out a perfect gift for my sister & snuck in FREE a sweet card with inspirational quote bc she found out I was from Ashe, recently decimated by the hurricane! So good, i was trying to recruit her to come work us.

Solstice Mercantile is a local gem offering a well curated selection of beauty products, cleaning solutions and thoughtful gifts. I often pop by for a snack of delicious, ethically made chocolates or a refreshment — their selection of botanically-infused, non-alcoholic drinks goes beyond kombucha and includes some locally sourced and pretty bottles of wine I will be serving at my next dinner party. The staff is very knowledgable and the owner, Janabai, was very accommodating with my gift return. Stop by if you're just passing through town and check it out if you're local and want to support small business with strong ethics.

Everyone here is very helpful and knowledgeable. This was my first
time shopping in a plastic free store and I loved it. Plus there’s a lot of local, artisan goodies that make great gifts. I’m sensitive to the artificial scents used in the big brand items, so I was delighted to have options that didn’t reek of chemicals/generic scents. Also cost wise, I found the bulk soaps to be less or on-par w major brands - plus you don’t have to deal with all the plastic (that isn’t really getting recycled.) Highly recommend checking this store out!

Awesome cold drinks and food, and nice cosmetics to refill. Love the orange blossom water I bought, and the shop keeper even drew me a detailed hand written label for it. Super kind and attention to detail.

Im a business owner in medicine and came to purchase personal/hygiene supplies for our clinic while supporting local businesses. After spending a considerable amount of money (exponentially more than had I gone to a big box store). I simply requested an itemized receipt to take a photo of and upload into my accounting app. I was told the receipt would be emailed or texted immediately because they don’t provide printed receipts.

Perfect, except the receipt never populated on my phone or email after waiting:/window shopping in Fairfax. I literally drove 15 minutes out of way just to support Solstice Mercantile.

I popped back into the store to inquire again about the receipt and was told I would have to wait for my credit card statement if the receipt hadn’t already populated. When I pressed the issue, as blanket credit card charges are never sufficient for tax purposes, the store assistant rolled her eyes, asked for my phone number and within 5 seconds texted me the receipt.

My heart and intentions were in the right place. I simply wish I could have been treated with same level of respect, consideration and appreciation.

Bulk everything. Delicious beverages. Friendly staff. Eco-friendly house products. I can literally bring my empty dishwashing bottle, fill it up for $.35/oz, and walk home to finish washing my dishes. This place completes the heaven that is Fairfax.
