I think this place is pretty good at what it does which is allowing you to grab some things you didn’t at a bigger and less expensive store. They also have produce, meats, and eggs that are produced in Lancaster and high quality, and some things are very reasonably priced.

I’ve never had a bad experience with a cashier here in ~15 visits, and people have been polite to me, but they also have a self checkout so if you are worried about this - don’t be.

The chestnuts sold by South Square Market are rotten. I had to discard the ones I had cut open and returned the remaining chestnuts to the store. However, the store manager refused to issue a refund, citing that "not all of the items were returned." In hindsight, I should have brought the discarded parts I had thrown into the garbage as proof. This experience highlights the store's blatant indifference to the quality and safety of the food they sell, raising serious concerns about their standards and customer care.

Great neighborhood market that carries everything from paper products to meats, artisan cheeses, organic beef, produce, baked goods and a prepared foods counter (they make great fresh breaded chicken cutlets that are delicious and a timesaver). The staff is friendly and attentive

Every time I go into this store, someone that works there is rude to me. I’ve had cashiers make fun of my clothing, get mad at me because I wanted to bag my own groceries (I usually take the bus), and tonight I had someone sweep dirt onto my shoes while I was waiting for an Uber. This was at 6pm, and they don’t close until 10, so it wasn’t like a rush to get it done or anything. I would never go in there ever again if they weren’t right next to the bus stop that takes me home. Can you give zero stars?

Good selection of unique products and wide variety buy energy is so weird, they treat you like you're stealing & then couldn't be ruder at checkout. I wouldn't buy a thing if I had to checkout with a cashier, sorry but get different employees - has always been pretty awful aside for 1 or 2 in the 10 years I've lived nearby

I never do my large grocery shopping trip here as the prices are a bit expensive but will stop in once or twice a week. Produce selection is pretty large for a small neighborhood store and everything feels very fresh. They have a wide range of dry/packaged foods and even some specialty ingredients. I prefer shopping here over the chaos that is the Giant store across the street. They have many employees always stocking the store and every checkout lane is always open (though I do prefer self checkout because the cashiers are always just talking to one another / ignoring customers)
