What a great little hotel. |My wife and I stayed here on our anniversary getaway, in one of the cathedral kings, and it I'd not disappoint. The property was within walking distance of all of the shops, cafes, and restaurants we wanted to visit. The room was nice and cozy and well appointed. The room has a nice shower with more than your standard small bathroom in a hotel, and the shower head is high enough for someone that it 6'1", which seems rare these days. The coffee in the room was also better than I would have expected. It has a nice little pour-over setup with locally roasted coffee and basic tea setup as well as some seasonal teas and snacks. The room had a nice little electric "fireplace" that adds to the experience. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Through the front window was a nice view of Morro Rock and the Bay. The staff were very communicative before our arrival as well. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and plan to be back.

What a lovely accomodation to find in a beautiful place. Beds were comfortable, room was large as was the bathroom. The fireplace was really a nice touch adding to the cozy feel. Coffee in the room was outstandingly good, quaint filter system made it quite a ritual to make coffee, but it added to the slow feel that the town just oozes with. There was tea, coffee and water available at the reception so if you want a fast coffee there was that option. The town was quiet and it was the best night sleep we had. |Absolutely amazing place to have stayed. We walked around Morro Rock on sunset and saw sea otters and then after a great night of sleep woke up to hear seals barking in the bay. Definitely The Landing at Morro Bay is a place to stay!

Great and smooth experience.
This place is really nice and a great option compared to other places around on the same price range.
Rooms are really bright and clean. The electric fireplace gives a nice warmth and creates a relaxing atmosphere.
Easygoing people and plenty of parking space.
The location is very central, with beautiful views and in walking distance from restaurants and shops.
Highly recommend it and definitely staying here again.

Unwelcoming staff, nonexistent housekeeping, rock-hard beds, misleading amenities, and walls so thin we might as well have shared a room with our neighbors.

This was our first time staying at The Landing, but we’ve been to Morro Bay many times. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Embarcadero, expecting a comfortable and welcoming stay. Unfortunately, that was far from our experience.

The most glaring issue was the treatment we received at checkout. The older woman handling it was unwelcoming, rude, and outright disrespectful. Given her demeanor, I have strong reason to believe it was due to my age and ethnicity. While the younger staff members were warm and helpful, this woman’s attitude left a lasting impression—one that made it clear we weren’t the kind of guests they cater to.

Housekeeping seemed nonexistent. Although our room was clean and freshly made up upon checking in there were no fresh towels, and no replenishment of the already minimal toiletries throughout the entirety of our stay. We had to request fresh towels ourselves, and thankfully, the young man working the evening shift was happy to assist.

The bed was stiff, and uncomfortable. A good night’s sleep was impossible, not just because of the bed, but because of the walls—or lack thereof. We heard everything from our neighbors, from footsteps to moans to what sounded like them rearranging furniture well into the early morning hours, both nights. Seriously, it sounded like they were starting construction in the middle of the night.

To top it off, the hotel falsely advertised certain amenities. We were told upon check-in that the outdoor seating area, including the fire pit, was available to us. When we tried to use it the next day while enjoying a cup of coffee, we were suddenly told it wasn’t actually accessible to us. No explanation—just another inconsistency in a stay full of disappointments.

Bottom line: I wouldn’t stay here again. If you’re looking for a comfortable, accommodating stay in Morro Bay, this isn’t it. And if you don’t fit their preferred guest profile you might want to take your hard-earned money elsewhere.

The walls and floors might as well not exist—they’re so thin that every single noise from the guests upstairs feels like it’s happening right in your room. The constant stomping and rattling made it impossible to get even a moment of peace. Whoever remodeled this place clearly went for the cheapest possible options, with zero regard for guest comfort. The pillows are an absolute joke—rock-hard and clearly from the bargain bin of some discount store. And let’s not forget the fireplace they love to brag about in the reviews. Guess what? It’s there because there’s no central heating or air conditioning, which is just unacceptable. The woman in the office was not helpful when I asked to be moved to a second floor room which could be done since they are checking out and I asked before 9am she told me that I should have called last night to make a noise complaint. The only saving grace in this hotel is that the rooms were clean. Would definitely not stay here again and would advise you to book a different hotel if you don’t want to relax at all.

My family and I have stayed here both times we were in Morro Bay. Staff is very kind and accommodating and the location is amazing! Just cross the street and you are down by the waterfront businesses and restaurants. Rooms are quiet and comfortable and give you a cool view of Morro rock 🪨 Thanks for another great stay and looking forward to visiting again soon!

Recently renovated, clean and nice. It would have had a sea view but it was so foggy that we didn’t see the sea at all. Within walking distance to everything. Free parking. The room had a microwave oven, fridge and coffee maker and electric fireplace as a heater.

Positive: The location was great, very close to restaurants and shops. The room was clean. Negative: Light sleepers beware. The walls are VERY thin- you can hear everything, the people in the room next to you and above you. Also, the blinds do not block the light out so it is very bright in the room at night. Bring ear plugs and a sleeping mask
