I took the machine basics class and really got a lot out of it! I’ve never used a sewing machine before but have wanted to learn for years. I received a free machine and took it to the class at The Sewing Room. Jennifer looked at my machine and was able to discover that it didn’t work (bummer) but gave me advice about how to get it fixed. I feel that was above and beyond just teaching the class! I’m definitely planning to go back for other classes.

The Sewing Room is a beautiful space for learning to sew. I have been fortunate to have a focused one-to-one session with the founder, Jennifer, who helped me on the subject of mending. I left the session being able to finally wear a favorite silk skirt once again after years of it languishing in the closet with an unraveled seam. I’ve also taken a one-off class at The Sewing Room on how to make an infinity scarf with some women friends which was a lot of fun plus we all left that evening with a finished wearable item!. Whatever your sewing level or needs, The Sewing Room is always a great place to start.

Our child has been attending classes at the sewing room five years! They have excelled with their skills with hand sewing, machine sewing and overall creativity. All of the teachers are talented, skilled and great with kids of all ages (even teenagers!). We love the Sewing Room!

I took the Machine Basics class about 6 months ago at the Sewing Room and really enjoyed it! I came in with zero experience on a sewing machine and left feeling accomplished (NOT frustrated!). The class really de-mystified sewing machines for me enough that I could now watch a YouTube tutorial and understand what was happening. When I did buy a sewing machine myself a couple of months later, I knew enough to get it up and running so I could start practicing at home. I also appreciate that you leave the class with a whole packet of instructions to help remind you of everything you learned because it is a lot of information in a short amount of time if you have no experience. While I haven't yet, I'd happily return to the Sewing Room for another class in the future!

The instructors are so patient and knowledgeable. It made learning how to sew easy. I would not have been able to sew (and I’ve tried) without them. I like that they give you papers to take home that outlines and shows how to do things so you can replicate it at home. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced too! It’s a great investment.

I took a mother/ daughter sewing class here with my 11 year old daughter and LOVED it. I don’t sew at all and it was totally doable for me. It was a fabulous was for us to spend time together and the instructor was awesome. She helped my daughter with everything including learning how to use a sewing machine. The selection of fabric and patterns available to choose from were wonderful and the teacher was great with beginners. I made some napkins that I am so proud of!

My daughter made 2 stuffed animals that came out amazing. The Sewing Room even facilitated entering one of them into a competition at the County Fair, my daughter won a ribbon. We got to go to the fair and see it on display!

Recently participated in a Zoom-hosted Surgical Mask sew along with other home based sewers and Jennifer of the Sewing Room. The Zoom format was fantastic! Jennifer walked everyone through each step of two mask making tutorials with clear visual and descriptive instructions and answered any questions along the way. The Zoom format was a great way to build sewing time into an otherwise busy schedule and connect with others even though we were all in different places. Highly recommend any Zoom sewing experiences with The Sewing Room, or any sewing instruction opportunities with Jennifer!
