What a great neighbor old school ice cream parlor est. 1941. Got a junior double scoop of Marble Butterscotch and Almond choco Fudge or any of the 2 dozen flavors available daily in a cake cone. They also have frozen chocolate-covered bananas and ice cream cakes for kid's parties. I heard there's a crazy 12-scoop Kitchen Sink sundae, but I haven't tried it yet!

As part of my Alameda Restaurant Week tour, I made sure to include Tucker's Ice Cream in my photo collection. The place immediately stands out as a downtown institution - it feels straight out of a movie with its classic ice cream parlor charm. They have this great back patio with a beautiful blooming jacaranda tree that creates a perfect setting to enjoy their desserts. The variety of great flavors gives everyone something to love, which is probably why it's become the family spot for Alameda locals over the years.

Tucker's is a beloved gem in Alameda and has been a long-standing tradition for our family. My husband grew up enjoying Tucker's, and now we've continued the tradition with our children. The flavor selection is incredible—there hasn’t been a single one we didn’t enjoy. Whether you're staying to savor your ice cream in the charming shop or strolling through Alameda's quaint downtown, the experience is always delightful.

The vibe is welcoming and nostalgic, perfect for creating lasting memories. And don’t miss their fresh-made, chocolate-covered waffle cones—they’re worth the trip alone! Tucker’s truly embodies everything you want from a local, family-run ice cream parlor: exceptional quality, friendly service, and a touch of magic. Highly recommend!

Tucker’s Ice Cream in Alameda was the perfect dessert place! They were busy but the line moved quick. I ordered a classic…banana split…which equally matched the classic vibe of this ice cream place. What nostalgia & what great experience! Nothing beats classic taste! 🍨😋

Over the years I have been going in about 4 to 5 times a year, mostly during the summer months, mostly ordering dine-in and outside in the back, gated patio. I find the ice cream fairly average but that is offset by the myriad of dishes that are offered and the excellent behind-the-counter service. Tonight however, that all was disrupted by my feeling that I was being hustled out of my seat before I had finished my dish and long before closing time.
I generally don't go into any food service establishment with less than one hour before closing. as staff is often tired and anxious to close in the final quarter-hour and before I have finished my meal. I find trying to enjoy my food, and my company, difficult when people are wiping down tables and swabbing the deck, and stacking furniture all around me.
Tonight at Tucker's I ordered, received and paid for my two-scoop sundae, then took a seat in the step-up front section of the restaurant. All but one table had customers at them.
In a few minutes I became distracted when I looked up and realized that an employee was stacking the furniture of the now mostly empty tables around me and a party of two, with 50 minutes remaining. He posted a "Section Closed' sign and as he walked away, informed myself and the others that we "had 10 minutes to finish, then the section would be closed"
This, with 40 minutes remaining until closing and the restaurant roughly 70% full.
Had this incident not happened tonight and I were writing this review I would have given Tuckers 4 stars but you know what? The Chestnut Street Encinal Market carries Straus Ice Cream and Nob Hill carries Tillamook

Love the nostalgic feeling and look and it was fun but I had better ones and more flavourful ones like the Mexican ice cream in Livermore. Overall it was really nice to try it.
